MICHAEL BUBLE MEETS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN finds Canadian crooner Buble making a highly anticipated appearance at the storied New York City concert venue. Buble is at the very least an incredibly talented vocalist who grew from a nice kid singer in the early part of the decade to a truly swinging interpreter of the Great American Songbook canon by its end. Furthermore, he found the right modern pop/soul songs--often co-written by himself ("Lost," "Home")--which have worked to fully contemporize his likable and swaggering stage persona, all of which is readily apparent on MEETS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Backed here by his de rigueur big band, Buble has a joyful and abundantly devilish rapport with the audience and is clearly as in love with them as they are with him. Included with the audio CD is a DVD documentary detailing his return visit to the Blue Note jazz club as well as the behind-the-scenes buildup and performance of the Madison Square Garden concert. Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden album
$9.89 Bob Sheppard, Dave Boroff (saxophone); Gary Grant (trumpet); Randy Waldman (piano, keyboards); Brian Bromberg (bass); Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Tull, Frank Capp, Joe Labarbera (drums); Raffael Padilla (percussion); Jochem Van Der Saag, Neil Devor, Felipe Elgueta (programming); Barry Gibb (background vocals).
Right off the bat, Michael Buble has you in his corner just because you know people have been calling the poor guy "Bubble" all his life (keep that accent on the second syllable, folks). Nomenclature aside, Buble's debut album positions him as something of a Harry Connick, Jr. for the 21st century. His husky croon gives him a bearing beyond his tender years, and in fact ...
| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden CD music
$11.65 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. ...

| | Secret Pop Band Pardon The Solar Interruption CD (2009)
Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden album
$10.25 Washington's DC's Secret Pop Band is pleased to announce the release of their debut album, Pardon the Solar Interruption. Ever the consummate rock historians, the Secret Pop Band (SPB) respect rich rock-n-roll traditions without ever resorting to cliche. From the Superchunk-esque rock of 'Sunday's Hard Rock Falls,' the neo-power balladry of 'Listening to the Tiger,' to the pure-pop of 'Week Old Beer,' the SPB delivers hook after hook with a mixture of humor, brevity and heart. The SPB's concerns are those of the common ...
| | Nurse With Wound Surveillance Lounge CD (2009) (Import) United Kingdom
Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden CD music
$17.09 The Surveillance Lounge is both an oddity and a similarity in the vast Nurse with Wound catalog. On the one hand, this is a puzzling affair because it comes on the heels of much more diverse, humorous, adventurous, and musically canny recordings, such as 2008's wonderful Huffin' Rag Blues. What is similar is that we've heard much of this type of experimentation from Steven Stapleton (NWW's founder and only constant member) before. This time out, Stapleton teamed with Andrew Liles, and received significant contributions from David Tibet, Nadja Belabidi, Lynn Jackson, Olly Mathura O'Keeffe, Freek Kinkelaar, Miranda Kinkelaar, Melon Liles, and Maude Swift. There are four tracks here, containing a total running time ...
| | Endle St Cloud Thank You All Very Much CD (1968)
Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden music CDs
$14.75 A typically freaky 1968 release from the estimably freaky Texas label International Artists, Thank You All Very Much is an all-over-the-map blend of guitar-based heavy psych, early country-rock, and an oddball music hall sound possibly influenced by the Kinks (especially on the jaunty "Jessica") and certainly unusual for a Texan group of their era. Singer and pianist Endle St. Cloud (it's also the band's name, ...
