2009 release, the French Electronic duo's third album, which marks the boldest and bravest moves they have made to date. Perhaps the biggest curve ball they could have thrown would be to go Pop, which is just what they've done, well, kind of. Blacklist is 12 tracks of deranged, maddening melodies and propulsive head-nod rhythms, taking the group's trademark concoctions and placing it amidst a setting that wouldn't look out of place in a stadium or headlining a festival. Caroline's vocals are brought centre stage: never have they sounded so clear, crisp and defiant. Whilst Orion's production alchemy sounds like the work of an regal orchestra of androids, soundtracking an Armageddon-inducing war. Because. | | Mariah Carey Merry Christmas CD (1994)
Blacklist songs
$8.49 At this stage of her career Mariah Carey does not need to prove herself, but her voice is so powerful that with each new recording she, once again, reminds you: "Listen to what I can do." Vocal gymnastics and Christmas songs are not often thought of as a compatible combination, but on MERRY CHRISTMAS Mariah jumps, climbs, crawls, twirls and dashes her way through both traditional fare and original Christmas songs.
She shifts through styles, offering fans from all musical camps a gift of their own. Her "Silent Night" shows off a studied vocalization where liquid phrasing is key. "Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)" shows off a dynamic voice that is hard to match. She has fun with the Phil Spector goodie "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," a song straight out of '60s girl-group heaven. There is even a "Joy To The World" medley mixing the old and the new--the traditional Christmas song and the Three Dog Night hit. And, as usual, her gospel-voiced ...
| | Rammstein Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da CDs (2009) Bonus Tracks; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
Blacklist album
$17.79 Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure the spirits of Weil and Brecht at a goth club. Best of the latter is the naked and haunting closer "Roter Sand" but little touches of a sinister yesteryear are everywhere, like the fake vaudeville music in "Haifisch" or the soundtrack strings of "Wiener Blut" which are eventually overcome by a guitar crunching juggernaut. This strange mix of styles is more effective here than it has been for about a decade, and there's no threat of the album becoming ponderous either ...

It's a nice ...

Blacklist songs
$12.49 Since the year 2000, Salim Nourallah’s music has consistently garnered critical accolades, including being the inclusion of Polaroid in The Dallas Observer’s Top Five Albums of 2004, and the double disc reissue of Nourallah Brothers (2004) being lauded by KCRW’s Eric J. Lawrence, as one of the top ten cds in the last decade. Moreover, the reissue debuted on KCRW in their top 30, and was the only small label release to make that illustrious list. This praise heads a long list of critical and popular appreciation, as evidenced when Nourallah played SXSW 2004 to a packed club, for his professional debut of Polaroid. 2006 found Nourallah's albums licensed in Germany and a tour of Europe followed. The Dallas Observer once again honored Nourallah with Best Album (Beautiful Noise), Best Song ("The World Is Full of People Who Want to Hurt You"), and Best Producer.Much of Nourallah’s solo work has been created and recorded at his own studio, Pleasantry Lane (a veiled reference to another lesser known studio). Since the commercial opening of the studio at the beginning of 2004, Pleasantry Lane has been a recording nexus for such disparate yet talented folk as : Rhett Miller, Old 97s, Deathray Davies, Earlimart and the Damnwells. Undoubtedly, Salim’s focus for the last half of 2004 was creating and recording his recent opus, Beautiful Noise. This pensive, finely wrought collection reveals Salim brooding on themes of mortality, aging, lost love and, refreshingly, hope as an antidote to despair. His keen pop sensibilities shine through in this meditative song cycle, in songs such as “Montreal”, a McCartney-esque anthem to the joys of coupledom and “The ...
