This two-for-one compilation gathers a pair of raucous, rapturous live recordings captured in 2003 in the Rocky Mountain State, mere miles from the Colorado Springs epi-center of fully-formed faith.
Bill & Gloria Gaither are something of a phenomenon. They are the multimillion-selling musical face of a passionate Christian movement somewhat unseen outside of American religious circles. However, one doesn't have to know much about them to catch the spirit of the music on the duo's dozens of records; it's a jaunty, vigorous, cheerful, sincere opening of arms and musical voices in unconditional love to the heavens above, inspirational in the very essence of the word. ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOMECOMING, hosted by the Gaithers, documents a gathering of like minds under the Colorado air, opening with a rousing folksy salute to said Rocky Mountain State ("Colorado might not be heaven, but it must be on the way"). Throughout this HOMECOMING, dozens of enthusiastic friends of the Gaithers lift their voices and sing of unrestrained praise and devotion (as the Talley Trio put it, "I praise you for being the song we can't help but sing").
