NFL San Francisco 49er - 5 Greatest Games Super Bowl Victories review
$10.49 The only thing not wrong on Metromania is Rodney Matthews' beautiful cover artwork. Otherwise, this LP bears all the signs of a fallen group on the verge of disintegration -- which is what happened as soon as the recording sessions were over. The music has absolutely nothing to do with earlier Eloy albums. It is very early '80s, full of cold synthesizers, vocoders, flat drums, and heavy metal guitars whenever things try desperately to rock. It could be the Buggles, "Mr. Roboto"-era Styx, or any other synth pop group of the day. But the major problem is that despite this radical change (for the worst) in musical direction, Frank Bornemann and friends stick to the ...

NFL San Francisco 49er - 5 Greatest Games Super Bowl Victories review
$18.39 This unsparing docu-style feature depicts a typical day in a Manhattan brothel where six working girls rent their bodies to an assorted collection of men illustrating just how far some will go to buy the illusion of love, and how far others will go to sell it. Director Lizzie Bordan successfully dashes the Hollywood image of the prostitute by focusing on Molly (Louise Smith) a college girl who is trying to make some fast cash. The film contains a procession of preparations, clients, and rituals that are recorded as slickly and methodically as they are executed, to lasting effect. The brothel is staffed by ten whores in total, working two shifts, and charging fifty dollars when special services are not required. When their shifts are over the girls go home to their private lives with and without husbands and boyfriends. The acting is unsentimental and the camera work is smooth. Borden wisely passes no judgement on her subject.
Molly is a lesbian with an Ivy League degree. Gina plans on opening her own beauty salon. Dawn is a law student. Mary answered an ad to be a hostess and decided ...

NFL San Francisco 49er - 5 Greatest Games Super Bowl Victories film
$22.19 Those prepared to hate the reboot of STAR TREK--whether they’re diehard fans or those in the anti-sci-fi camp--may be convinced to lower their shields after seeing this fun, action-filled film. Best known for creating mythology-driven series like LOST, J.J. Abrams has imbued his version with the elements that have made his shows such mind-bending entertainment while still keeping the soul of the saga intact. STAR TREK begins with an attack by an impossibly advanced Romulan ship captained by the tattooed, snarling Nero (Eric Bana). Among the survivors is the infant version of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), who grows up to wreak havoc on the Iowa countryside. When Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood) meets an adult Kirk, he encourages him to join Starfleet, giving him the opportunity to meet Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), and the rest of the characters audiences have loved for decades.
Abrams has assembled a fine cast who seem to be aware of their predecessors but never resort to impressions. Both Quinto and Pine do a fine job with their portrayals of Kirk and Spock, and Karl Urban couldn’t be better as Leonard McCoy. The supporting players--Simon ...
