| | Julian Coryell Profit & Loss CD Julian Coryell Discography of CDs
"Profit and Loss" is the third and last CD in a trilogy of recordings I started 10 years ago with "Bitter To Sweet".While "Bitter To Sweet" focused on issues of love and self-acceptance, and "Rock Star" dealt with life in L.A and letting go of childish things, "Profit and Loss" revolves around wisdom and the price paid in acquiring it.From the opening track "I Feel Insane" to the last "Darling Don't Do This", P and L squarely addresses getting on and getting older. It soberly examines the pros and cons of letting go of what didn't work, and nurturing what does. The recording process was different than the previous two CDs. A band was assembled specifically for the recording, and first preceded to play live shows around L.A for two years until the sound felt correct. The actual recording approach was inspired by the golden age of record making, the 1970's. In keeping with the spirit of that time, the actual tracking went fast, just a few days in the studio, and all the basic tracks (including lead vocals) were cut live with minimal editing.A-lot of this record has been finished for quite awhile. I was reluctant to release it because it represents a time in my life that no longer is.That being said, I'm proud of this record. It documents what I hope will be the last chapter of many relationship struggles.I've heard it said there are two kinds of artists. The first evaluates what they've created and asks, "Does this work?", whilethe second evaluates what they've created and asks, "Is this true?”Well... I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that for me, "Profit and Loss" is true and therefore, deserves to be heard. Thank you for listening! Profit & Loss CD music
$16.45 For many years, Colin Rink has been working diligently as a singer/songwriter from the artistic corner of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His mysterious, influential and relentless talents in the folk and rock avenues have been a powerful achievement to both musicians and fans. From the depth of his lyrics, to the insight of his well-developed style of musicianship, he is a defining character and a leader in his genre and his style and his music speaks for itself. His debut album “Bury Me Deep In The Ground” currently being released on June 19th, 2009 has shown deep singing and songwriting talent that is magnificent. The album features such songs as “Dear L”, “The SF Earthquake of 1906” and “Running for the Train” that have made memorable and lasting impressions as they are works of art which seem both modern and timeless. His two podcasts on itunes; Dylan for virgins and On the Run have been met with wide anticipation and praise from musicians, fans, and individuals in the music industry. Fluent in many of the arts; such as painting, writing and music, Rink started out working odd jobs around Vancouver in 2006, scrimping and saving until he was finally able to purchase his first guitar. His deep interest in personalities, people and in the arts, lead Rink to become a Busker on notorious Granville Island; a collective arts movement for musicians, and street performers. Practicing and playing through open mics at night while still working and going to school at Simon Fraser University, he began to gain a following in the venues he performed which at the time were mainly coffee shops and restaurants. Creating a buzz around Vancouver’s music scene, he worked his way up from the shadows of playing coffee shops to showcases, bars and nightclubs throughout the city. Currently, he has performed at virtually every live music venue in the Vancouver area. His ...
