| | Ray Conniff We Wish You A Merry Christmas CD (1962)
Aquarelles CD music
$6.09 Ray Conniff was only a step or two above Lawrence Welk, where edginess is concerned, on the easy listening scale, and it is true that his albums could often have a sort of bland, soulless quality in their weakest moments. Nevertheless, there is something undeniably lovely about the orchestral and vocal arrangements on many of his albums, and that is never more so the case than on We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Even if you ignore the album's holiday aim, it is possibly Conniff's single finest recorded moment, with an incomparably strong choral vocal performance from his Singers. You cannot really segregate the music from its purpose, however, and to do so would be to gloss over the album's single greatest attribute: its timeless, sparkling mood. It remains as fresh, in its way, 30 years later as it was on the day that it was recorded. Moreover, it can rightly be called a ...

| | Celtic Woman Greatest Journey: Essential Collection CD (2008) Bonus Tracks
Aquarelles CD music
$16.05 Celtic Woman, initially a one-shot collaboration by six leading Irish vocalists for a 2004 PBS special, struck a chord of adoration for the Emerald Isle, a fancy affecting both sides of the Atlantic, and swiftly became a permanent collective. THE GREATEST JOURNEY captures many of the best moments of elegant harmonizing by the act, from their serene and rapturous take on Enya's "Orinoco Flow" to the mournful yet poppily uplifting indigenous folk of "You Raise Me Up."
Import pressing includes two bonus tracks, Mo Ghile Mear (Live From Slane Castle) and Spanish Lady (Live From Slane Castle). Since their beginning in 2005, Irish vocal phenomenon Celtic Woman have sold 4 million units worldwide and occupied the #1 spot on the Billboard World Music Chart for a record-breaking 90 consecutive ...

Aquarelles album
$12.39 Back, way back, before America was America, there were songs. Songs about drinking and death and regret and fear and anger and love. These songs have been all around the world. Each new generation in each place tinkers with them a bit, changing up the words and melodies, making them louder or softer or faster or slower. Brian McGee hasn't died yet, but has done and felt all those other things in spades. And until he does die, these songs are his. They are in his lungs and in his hands. This is the first time Brian McGee has stepped out solo, since the break-up of the Pennsylvania punk rock trio PLOW UNITED, in 1997. With this new band of musicians, the HOLLOW SPEED, Brian McGee is wading through the ever flooded cities and farms of American music and looking for a place to set up and call his own. The band has been influenced by every decade of recorded music and from song to song, they etch out pictures ...

| | Jilted Brides Larceny Of Love CD (2009) (Import)
Aquarelles album
$16.69 The Jilted Brides are a psychedelic folk/electronic duo originally from Melbourne, Australia. Psychedelic in the original Greek means 'clarifying the soul'.Tanya sings and creates video projections for our performances, Nicole sings, plays keys and writes and produces the songs. We formed in December 2007, and Larceny of Love of Love is our first album. Larceny of Love is divided into two 'sides' - psychedelic ballads then electronic hymns. The Jilted Brides sing about heartache, the dark night of the soul, spiritual yearnings and desire. Our music is both sacred and profane, just like love. We left Australia in May 2008 and traveled and performed around the USA until October 2008, when we arrived in Pittsburgh and decided to base ourselves here. Heres what one Pittsburgh music critic (from Pop City, February 2009) has said about our album:"With traces of the Carpenters, Mazzy Star, Animal Collective protegee Tickley Feather, and Sub Pop depressive Tiny Vipers, Larceny of Love wallows through the muck of loss, and into the light of reclamation. 'Rescue' comforts listeners 'it's dark where you've been, it's hard what you've seen'; 'Love is Everywhere' reassures us 'there is a future where love is everywhere'; and 'Road to Freedom'-a ...
