In Places with Bad Lighting(Poems and Songs) A Book Written By: Adam Trice Through the strum and refrain of his verse, Adam Trice is a adept chronicler of the irrational—revealing the origins beneath the dirt on the soles of our collective consciousness.Imbued with a new American duende, the visceral authenticity within the layers of his poetry is, at once, evocative and liberating. Shadows and forms wander through each vignette. He wears the darkness well, and the laughter.Searching within and without simultaneously, the subtle biographical qualities of his work are accompanied by explorations of cosmology and waffle diners, pharmaceutical reps and dissonance, la la morte, and glimpses of a social fabric designed to confuse. ABOUT THE AUTHORAdam Trice is a writer, lyricist, and songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland. Much of his poetic voice surfaces in his songwriting for his graveyard country rock persona, Red Sammy, a reference to a minor character in Flannery O’Connor’s short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” (1955).Trice lives in Baltimore, MD where he actively creates and performs his writing and songwriting. He received his M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. In Places With Bad Lighting (Poems & Songs) album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played ...

| | Rachel Brooke CD (2009)
In Places With Bad Lighting (Poems & Songs) music CDs
$11.15 “Like so many of us, Rachel Brooke was born in the wrong time. Her classic style, and her simple and poetic songs fit much more snugly in an oval picture frame of tarnished metal and smoky glass than on CMT or Clear Channel pop country. She might be from Michigan, but this girl must have been touched with the songs and sentiments of the southlands and the weary West at birth. The Rachel Brooke brand of old school country soul is true, and doesn't even give a hint of fake, stereotyped molding to fit a style or genre that happens to be hip at the time. It flows out of her as true and vital as breath. In other words, this girl is the REAL DEAL! Her songs have that capacity to take you somewhere you haven't been for many many years, or to take you somewhere you want to be: in the depths of drunkenness and depression, or back home where all was right. Then she feeds it all through the effects of a warped record or an fuzzy AM radio to erase any tinges left behind by this modern antiseptic world with its polished existence, because the songs are not meant for this modern world or the people who dwell in it. They are meant for YOU,..the wayward soul rambling down the Lost Highway." -- savingcountrymusic.com ...
