| | Judas Priest Concert Classics CD (2009) Reissue
Golp CD music
$11.98 There was a time when British Steel was the hottest, hardest, and most awesome substance on the planet. On Judas Priest "Concert Classics", here it is, in its most appropriate circumstances: live, on stage. Judas Priest re-invented heavy metal. The first band to use the twin-guitar attack, they built on ...

$13.79 Continuing his stroll through pop's backpages, Rod Stewart moves on from "The Great Rock Classics of Our Time" and dives into the SOULBOOK, shorthand for all the great Motown and soul songs that still are in heavy rotation on oldies radio well into the new millennium. Golp album
$11.99 Timothy B Schmit launched his solo career late - in 1984, after the Eagles disbanded and right in the thick of the era of shiny, synthesized production. Schmit released three solo albums, all big and glossy, between 1984 and 1991, then reunited ...
| | Shakira She Wolf CD (2009)
Golp CD music
$14.39 Shakira's brand new English album She Wolf is an uptempo pop album. It is all about synthesizers and electronic concepts, all mixed with the world sounds that we are used to from Shakira.. sounds from countries like India, the Middle East and her home country of Colombia. She Wolf features a predominantly English track list with a follow up album of new and unique repertoire in Spanish to come in 2010. The title track "She-Wolf " boasts the infectious and energizing sound that made Shakira a household name, with a slightly more dancey/ electronic beat (about 125 beats per minute). Though most tracks on the upcoming album will be in English, Shakira chose to service the Spanish version of the first single, "Loba", two weeks before the English single is launched.
Last time around, Shakira touched upon so many styles she couldn't be contained on one album, splitting Oral Fixation in two. This time, she focuses on one sound only: a pulsating electro-disco that crosses all boundaries and welcomes all nationalities. Such concentration behooves Shakira, freeing her to release her inner She Wolf, a wild wacko who's as coo coo as she is carnal. And for as sexy as Shakira is -- crucially, her music is sexy too -- what really gives She Wolf its bite is her inspired nuttiness, how she laments that Matt Damon's not meant for her, and wishes her ex-lover and his new girl a horrible ...
| | Unamerican CD (2000)
Golp music CDs
$11.39 When Bush jumped the grunge-rawk bandwagon in 1994, who would have pegged them to be from the land of royalty? Britain has successfully invaded the States since the heydays of the Beatles, yet the game of digging into American soil has remained a trying but challenging endeavor. The latest attempt has come from a London four-piece who appropriately call themselves UnAmerican. Formed in 1997 by former World Party guitarist Steve McEwan, this four-piece molds classic Americana guitars into a sculptured, rhythmic calamity so snarling that their debut self-titled release is rock steady for a new, millennial, down-home style of rock & roll.
Alongside McEwan is lead guitarist Matthew Crozer, bassist Pete Clarke, and drummer Tim Bye. The quartet captures the emotionally pinch-hitting situations surrounding them. The album opener "She's the Bomb" is unusually happy and clear-cut, and McEwan's squealing lead vocals are lighthearted. Swiveling guitars and thumping bass drops are quick and quite similar to the sounds of Collective Soul, Matchbox 20, and Third Eye Blind on songs like "Wicked" and "If This Is the End."
Melodically spiritual, this band seems to be onto something. They aren't the new Brit-pop ...

| | Matt Ray Old Crow CD (2009)
Golp CD music
$16.45 “Americana” or “roots music” seem to be terms that have been thrown around loosely these days. But, if we take these terms in their simplest forms, we see that “Americana” or “roots music” is music that is based off of America’s rich, and diverse, musical history. Yet, while its origins come from long ago, it is also music that sounds fresh, while remaining timeless, as it continues to contribute to our musical landscape. Matt Ray’s “Old Crow” is an album does just that.Composed of twelve tracks written and arranged by Ray, “Old Crow” taps into many musical traditions while maintaining a consistently unique and engaging overall feel. If one wants blues, they need to go no further then the title track, or the blues infused “Nothing’s Gonna Change”. Want folk music? Ray offers us “Them Heroes” and “Too Much I Wanna Know”. Maybe one prefers traditional country music? In this case, we get the Hank Williams-style “Let Me Fall Into You”. If straight up rock and roll is your thing, we are given the funky “Old Time Band” and the rollicking “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance?”. From the pre-World War II old time style of “The Ranger’s Lament” to the jug band offering of “Come Out On Top” Ray has created a cornucopia of sounds for the ears. Recorded ...
| | White Mice Ganjahovahdose CD (2009)
Golp music CDs
$8.39 White Mice seemed to get more explicitly metal with each release over the years, so perhaps no surprise that they ended up with an album on the 20 Buck Spin label in 2009 -- and less of a surprise that it was an explosive, angry and righteous mess. With offensive song titles that redefine the idea of a lethal pun -- samples include "Placenta the Crotchtower" and "The Shroud of Urine" -- it's little surprise that Ganjahovadose is out to find some way to shock, but at the same time there's a sense of ridiculous humor clearly at work here too. Perhaps it's not surprising in a time where sonic ugliness in and of itself is simply not an intrinsic signifier of potential worth as such -- there are thousands upon thousands of homemade CDRs alone that demonstrate otherwise -- but White Mice find their way to catchy antiriffs that emphasize tight grooves even when roared and echoed vocals slur all over them. The title track isn't exactly, say, the ...
