Starring Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Common, Cuba Gooding, Jr., John Ortiz, Carla Gugino, Ruby Dee, Ted Levine, Josh Brolin, Armand Assante, Chjwetel Ejiofor, RZA, T.I., John Hawkes
Director Ridley Scott
Composer Marc Streitenfeld
Director of Photography Harris Savides
Editor Pietro Scalia
Producer Brian Grazer, Ridley Scott
Screenwriter Steven Zallian

British director Ridley Scott may not seem a logical choice for this truly American crime drama, but the filmmaker does an excellent job. The film is based on a true story and set in 1968 Harlem, where Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) is a driver for Bumpy Johnson, one of the top figures in the city's criminal world. When Bumpy dies, Lucas swoops in, taking over his predecessor's empire and expanding it over the next few years with his sale of a particularly potent brand of heroin. Meanwhile, New Jersey cop Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe) begins to investigate the New York drug world and discovers that there's a new power in town. Thanks to screenwriter Steve Zallian, as well as Washington and Crowe, AMERICAN GANGSTER creates a convincing portrait of two men who are neither entirely good nor entirely bad. Washington plays Lucas as a man who buys his mother a palatial home but doesn't hesitate to beat his brother's head against a window. Crowe's Roberts may turn in a million-dollar find, but he cheats on his wife. Sadly, they only meet onscreen toward the end of the film, but the minimal interaction between the two Oscar winners is fascinating. Even though the focus is on Lucas and Roberts, AMERICAN GANGSTER is filled with a wealth of strong characters played by talented actors. It seems everyone with a SAG card turns up for the film, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Josh Brolin, Ted Levine, John Hawkes, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Carla Gugino, Ruby Dee, Joe Morton, and rappers T.I. and RZA. It's an epic film, with a run time of over two and a half hours, but it's time well spent. Fans of classic crime films such as THE GODFATHER, SERPICO, and CARLITO'S WAY will certainly be pleased by this addition to the genre.

Theatrical Release: November 2, 2007

Hot-tempered, self-centered, part-Irish Southern beauty Scarlett O'Hara, played to the teeth by Vivien Leigh, loves the gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard). Smug, rebellious, honest, blockade-running profiteer Rhett Butler, portrayed gracefully and naturally by Clark Gable, loves Scarlett. Ashley, who is also in love with Scarlett, marries his genteel cousin Melanie (Olivia de Havilland) because he believes that their quiet similarities will create a better marriage than Scarlett's passion. Meanwhile, sparks fly between Rhett and Scarlett at their first encounter and continue throughout Scarlett's first two marriages. Scarlett and Rhett finally wed, but Scarlett continues to pine for her beloved Ashley. Set against the Civil War and Southern Reconstruction, this tragic love quadrangle offers the burning of Atlanta and fields of wounded Confederates as part of its lush scenery. Meticulous backdrops, glorious sunsets, numerous silhouettes, and the ultrasaturated Technicolor film create a hyperreal vision. The romantic score is every bit as lush and dramatic as the photography, borrowing folk melodies from the Old South to make the tragic war concrete. Heavy nostalgic tones pervade the often witty dialogue and larger-than-life charms and faults of the leads. GONE WITH THE WIND stands among the greatest epic dramas ever filmed. Inspector Winship (Knotts) and Dr. Tart (Conway) are a pair of Scotland Yard investigators who are called on to look into the mysterious murders of Lord and Lady Morley. At the possibly haunted Morley mansion the bumbling duo have to deal with a bizarre household staff, a wealthy heiress, and more in this hilarious spoof of Sherlock Holmes and other mystery stories. One of the best pairings for Knotts and Conway, with plenty of inspired slapstick and wackiness. Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments

This overheated melodrama tells the story of a proud slave-owning family in the antebellum South and their eventual descent into adultery, incest, and sexual congress with those of other races. There's a Southern belle who's a panting nymphomaniac, a white man who craves African flesh -- and every black male is a well-endowed sexual stallion. Louisiana plantation life around 1840 is the setting for this racy drama based on the book by Kyle Onstott. Soundtrack English

She's classy. She's posh. She's savvy. And she's just as much "working girl" as she is "hooker with a heart of gold." Meet Belle, (DOCTOR WHO's Billie Piper), an expensive London call girl who's willing to take viewers on an intimate tour through her daily life. There's the personal on one side, the professional on the other, and never the twain shall meet, right? Well, for now at least. On the whole, Belle is a consummate professional, and her unusual lifestyle requires her to be coy with those who don't know how she truly earns her living. But when facing such problems as whether to ditch an underwhelming john for the rare opportunity of making a sex fantasy come true, or discovering a soft spot for a sweet and wonderful client, it tends to become increasingly difficult to separate business from pleasure and pleasure from heartache. Not unlike the title character of ALFIE, Belle playfully breaks the fourth wall to constantly engage the viewer in a stylistic device that echoes the series' inspiration, a real-life blog written by a high-class prostitute named Belle de Jour. SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL was already a smash hit in England before it surfaced on the airwaves of Canada's Showcase and America's Showtime, but now this intoxicating, sometimes funny, and always sexy drama can be enjoyed internationally. Included here are all eight episodes of the series' second season. Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re
