South Florida quintet Poison the Well have, through years of constant touring, major label forays, and numerous personnel changes, garnered one of the most storied careers within the post-hardcore scene. While some argue that the group hit their high point on the classic 1999 album THE OPPOSITE OF DECEMBER, faltering somewhat on followups such as the disjointed, Spaghetti Western-tinged VERSIONS (2007), they appear to have rebounded nicely and with a newfound energy and focus for their fifth full-length effort, THE TROPIC ROT (2009). Balancing their progressive tendencies and highly attuned melodic instincts with the typical metalcore formula of hard-verse-melodic-chorus, the album's mix of forceful energy and boundless musical scope proves PTW's position as leaders in an increasingly crowded post-hardcore field.

Tropic Rot album
$9.79 Birth Place and Burial Site" is a more focused and mature release than any previous As Hope Dies releases; a sincere outpouring of total emotion.
Birth Place and Burial Site, the six-song EP from As Hope Dies, is an energetic and strangely melodic aural assault. Where many of their contemporaries in the black metal world tend to mix their melodic passages with blinding thrash riffs, As Hope Dies approaches things with a twin-guitar assault reminiscent of vintage Iron Maiden. This use of power metal riffing helps the material greatly, as the barking-dog vocals have a memorable wall of guitars to attach themselves ...
| | Garfield The Movie DVD (2004) Full Frame; Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled
Tropic Rot CD music
$9.69 The long-running, popular comic strip about the fat and lazy cat named Garfield comes to life with this live-action Hollywood comedy. Based on characters created by Jim Davis, the film tells the story of this supremely spoiled pet, who wants the affection of everyone around him, only he wants it on his own terms. Trouble arises one day when, under the influence of the beautiful veterinarian Liz (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Garfield's owner Jon (Breckin Meyer) stuns him by bringing home a cuddly dog, Odie. Jealous at the attention Odie is receiving, Garfield locks Odie out of the house. Odie runs away and when he's kidnapped by the evil television personality Happy Chapman (Stephen Tobolowsky), Garfield realizes his mistake, and embarks on ...

| | Machine Head Blackening CD (2007)
Tropic Rot songs
$14.25 Oakland's Machine Head is back with its sixth release of blistering, smoldering, and streetwise metal. Arguably the band's finest work to date, THE BLACKENING digs back to the band's technically-savvy, thrashy roots and brings them to the present with brilliant production. Produced once again by guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn and mixed by legendary knob-spinner Colin Richardson (Carcass, Bullet For My Valentine), the sleek-sounding album presents eight tracks of bruising metal, rife with attitude and passion. ...
| | Poison The Well Versions CD (2007)
Tropic Rot album
$11.59 Poison The Well take a giant leap forward for metalcore-kind with their first album on the Ferret Music label, VERSIONS. The Floridian trio sequestered themselves in a barn in Sweden (of all places), coming out of the process with a set that is equal parts fiercely intense and melodic/artsy. On this ambitious record, fans of PTW may be surprised to ...
| | Clutch Strange Cousins From The West CD (2009)
Tropic Rot CD music
$11.59 Whereas many bands start out with a basic sound and get progressively more experimental as they flex their creative muscles, Clutch, over the course of 15 albums, stripped down its music to its bare, heavy essence, garnering an intensely loyal fan base in the process. STRANGE COUSINS FROM THE WEST finds Clutch heavily steeped in `70s-style heavy blues rock, spitting out a heaping bong load of chugging guitar/bass/drums/vocal jams refreshingly free from multi-tracked six-string overdubs and studio trickery. Songs such as the Mountain-seque "50,000 Unstoppable Watts" and the swampy, funky "Witchdoctor" represent a tight, rockin' band doing what ...
| | Cannibal Corpse Gallery Of Suicide CD (1998) Japan
Tropic Rot music CDs
$24.45 GALLERY OF SUICIDE is a 1999 release by grindcore pioneers Cannibal Corpse.
Cannibal Corpse settled into their own gruesome groove early on in their career, spitting out a predictable set of carnage-obsessed trash-rockers on each of their albums. Consequently, their albums can be a little interchangeable, and Gallery of Suicide -- the group's sixth album -- is no different. From the titles ("Disposal of the Body," "Blood Drenched Execution," "Dismembered and Molested," "Stabbed in the Throat," "Centuries of Torment," "Crushing the Despised," "I Will Kill You") to the incessant, buzzing guitars, it's Cannibal Corpse as the fans have come to expect them. It's a little fresher than its predecessor, Vile, but it does have the problem of sounding a little monotonous in comparison to their entire catalog. That may not matter to the hardcore fans, who will inevitably ...
