Digitally remastered by Doug Schwartz (Audio Mechanics, Los Angeles, California).
Besides being a touring warhorse, Lynyrd Skynyrd cranked out albums at a brisk rate during its original lineup's brief recording career, averaging at least one new release per year. 1975 saw the emergence of Skynyrd's third album in as many years, NUTHIN' FANCY.
While the album didn't contain a smash hit single as had its predecessors ("Free Bird," "Sweet Home Alabama," etc.), it proved to be another solid collection of tough Southern rock. "Saturday Night Special" remains one of the band's fiercest rockers, while such other compositions as "On the Hunt" and "Whiskey Rock-A-Roller" have become Skynyrd standards as well.

| | Levon Ichkhanian After Hours CD (1996)
Nuthin' Fancy songs
$15.19 A Toronto resident who lived in Beirut, Lebanon as a child, Levon Ichkanian uses his Armenian heritage to his creative advantage on After Hours. This promising debut found the fusion-oriented guitarist (who gives the impression he was into Carlos Santana as well as John McLaughlin and Al DiMeola) employing heavyweights like Paquito D'Rivera (alto sax, clarinet) and John Patitucci (electric bass) and frequently combining a jazz-rock foundation with traces of Armenian and Middle Eastern music. While thoughtful originals like "Freeway Hotel," "The Gift" and "Monte Carlo" underscore Ichkanian's interest in Armenian pop, "Caterina" boasts a lovely, haunting melody that wouldn't be out of place on a Gato Barbieri album. Latin music is obviously another one of Ichkanian's passions, and he pleasantly surprises by making Luiz Bonfa's "Manha De Carnaval" more Afro-Cuban than Brazilian. The more one listens to this CD, the more one realizes how much there is to admire about Ichkanian. ~ Alex Henderson
Contemporary jazz with world beat overtones aptly describes the music of Canadian/Armenian multi-instrumentalist/composer Levon Ichkhanian. A third generation musician and artist of great versatility, Levon is proficient on the fretted and fretless guitars, oud, bouzouki, mandolin and banjitar. Levon's musical odyssey first took shape in Lebanon. "I had several monumental experiences growing up which had a rich influence on me culturally and musically. My Dad exposed me to jazz and continental music letting me sit in during his band rehearsal, and as the musical director for shows. The family would travel with him to places like Yemen, Jordan and Cyprus. My Uncles Joseph and Jacques introduced classical and flamenco guitar music to me. Joseph would often host gatherings filled with musicians, dancers and painters celebrating their art. I also have vivid memories of spending summer trips with my family to the Northern part of Lebanon. At night there would be parties filled with traditional Armenian and popular Arabic music (Adiss and Fairuz were the favorites), dancing and lots of food that went on until the small hours of the night. These experiences have influenced me profoundly in my music and in my person, as I continue to further explore the future"Levon studied classical guitar under the direction of his uncle, Professor Joseph ...
| | Sonseed Jesus Is A Friend Of Mine CD (2009) Digipak
Nuthin' Fancy album
$6.19 (MP3 Available for Download) Sonseed is a born-again Roman Catholic rock band that cut one light rock album in 1983 called First Fruit. The band made a second album that went unreleased and broke up. In 2008 a clip of the band playing a ska-flavored song from the album called "Jesus Is a Friend of Mine" appeared on the pop culture site Dougsploitation.blogspot.com. Its irresistible beat, driving bass line, rinky dink keyboards, and the bright pop vocals of bass player, lead singer, and main songwriter Sal Polichetti made it a YouTube sensation with millions of downloads. The band never intended to be professional musicians and only made an album because friends kept asking them for copies of their original songs. (The rest of the set list was made up of traditional hymns that the group arranged for a rock band.) This EP reissue has the band's four original tunes, and a cover of the Edwin Hawkins' Singers' "Oh Happy Day" given a disco-lite arrangement. ...
