| | An Ocean Between Us Drowning CD An Ocean Between Us Discography of CDs
An Ocean Between Us was born in January 2008, by mutual decision to kick asses in the so-called modern metal scene. Inspired by huge names like Bullet For My Valentine, Atreyu, In Flames, Avengend Sevenfold, Trivium, the band never meant to be a clone of somebody else; fired up by the personal twists each member wanted to bring to the band, time was not wasted and songs quickly flowed out in the reharsal room, where the five dudes honed their craft to the maximum, finetuning every single riff, melody, scream and song structure. The five 'Drowning' masterpieces were born, and studio time booked in October, the same year; the only thing that stopped An Ocean Between Us to record their debut cd in a fastest-debut-record-ever fashion was a major incovenience with their now former drummer. Did everything fell apart? Not. One. Bit. Thinking they already wasted enough time, Marco was quickly recruited and he underwent an intensive reharsal sessions period (not to mention tons of gigs, including a glorious New Year's Eve party at New Age Club, one of the most renowned venues in Italy), until studio was booked for February 2009. The time for 'Drowning' is here. An Ocean Between Us is about everything that metal should be in the 00's: fast, heavy riffs, screaming, memorable choruses, memorable singing and guitar harmonies. 'Drowning' is here to prove it to you. And this is just the beginning; the band, which can already count on a thick and loyal army of fans, is planning to film a video for the smash sing-a-long hit 'Shoreless Love Song', touring extensively through Italy and releasing a full length debut album next year. Things couldn't look brighter, and wait 'til you hear the songs on 'Drowning'! An Ocean Between Us Drowning Songs | 1. | Reignite The Heart |

Drowning album
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously unreleased version of "Aníron (I Desire)," both of which originally appeared on the soundtrack for the first chapter of Peter Jackson's beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy. ~ James Christopher Monger

Drowning album
$6.75 Judas Priest's 1990 release, PAINKILLER, shows the band returning to ferocious metal after such musical detours as 1986's TURBO. It also proved to be the British band's last outing with original singer Rob Halford. Drummer Scott Travis (ex-Racer X) makes his Priest debut here, while the sound and songwriting is comparable to thrash/speed metal.
The album-opening title track is one of Priest's heaviest and greatest songs (brace yourself before it kicks in!), and the band takes no prisoners on such titles as "Hell Patrol" and "A Touch of Evil." An inspired way to close out Halford-era Priest.
At the dawn of the '90s, Judas Priest were in sad shape: out of touch, seemingly creatively bankrupt, coming off the two worst albums of their career, and left for dead by many observers. Trying to right the ship, Priest jettisoned longtime producer Tom Allom and his tinny '80s sound, as well as the serviceable groove drumming of Dave Holland, and brought in veteran metal producer Chris Tsangarides and onetime Racer X skinsman Scott Travis. Most importantly, though, Priest stopped trying to be a stadium act in the midst of hair metal's heyday. All those changes come into sharp focus as soon as the title cut of Painkiller starts -- Travis' thunderous (and crisp-sounding) percussive maelstrom lights an immediate ...
| | Atreyu Congregation Of The Damned CD (2009)
Drowning CD music
$11.65 On their latest effort, Atreyu come with more of the same metalcore that listeners have come to expect from the band. All of the familiar elements are in place, with the alternating screaming/soaring vocals, thundering double bass drumming, and big, crunchy riffage. The difference here is that the band seems to have mellowed out a bit, opting for a more melodic approach. Like their last album, the songs here feel somewhat restrained, like they're just dying to break free of the polished production. The intensity of SUICIDE NOTES and BUTTERFLY KISSES seems to have been put out to pasture, with the songs feeling more deliberately poppy.
