Let's start at the beginning. Rius was born in Quezon City, Philippines on May 19, 1981 and relocated with his family to Mountain View, California in 1986 where he grew up and resides today. He began his commitment to music by the time he was five when he started singing with his younger brother, Ryyn. This was the beginning of an amazing journey for Rius, that has made him the talented singer that he is today.
With a voracious appetite for great music, Rius immersed himself into the artistry of timeless singer-songwriters from an early age. He swiftly discovered his comfort in front of an audience and his yearning to be on stage, and soon realized that he was born to be an entertainer. After multiple shows, years of singing, and performing in front of numerous crowds, Rius found his musical calling in Pop and R&B. He quotes his wide array of influences to be Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations as well as Michael Jackson, Motown, Oldies, and Doo-Wop. Yet his unique sound crosses over to the borders of Dance, Pop, R&B, and Neo-Soul. This variety in his music interests inspired the diverse, well-rounded feel of his sound and is demonstrated on his debut album, The Grey Area.
His musical resume is quite impressive for a fledgling artist and includes being the opening act for Jordan Knight of the 'New Kids on the Block,' air play on Z95.
