| Fantastic! One of my favorite new cds. They playing is unbelievable and the song selection may not be familiar to some, but will make any newbie an instant fan. Its great to hear songs like Forever man and Split Decision for a change instead of the same old hits like Layla. A great buy! | Great! They're twins! Great setlist. Clapton and Winwood are are now comfortable to deliver their songs in a simple & powerful way. 40 years of waiting mean torture for those who love HQ music. This fruitful collaboration should have been more prolific during the 70/80s decades. Nowadays record sellers will never understand what I'm talking about. Simply Rock and Roll history. Great album. | Wow! Simply said - one of the best live recordings/performances ever. This is one of the best live albums of all time. I am not exaggerating. The playing is awesome, the song selection is great. I wish I had seen it live. By Larry B (Toms River, NJ, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| What A Gig, Indeed !!!!! I wish I could have been there, but this cd puts you there in musical spirit. These two elder classic-rock artist and their three co-horts make these 21 tracks here sizzle like a million bucks. Steve Winwood's keyboard playing, guitar playing and vocals are emmaculent to say the least. Mr. Clapton's playing of his rock and blues tunes here make the listener see why he is one of the best guitarist of all time. His vocals are true to his legacy as a great gutsy singer also. I have two favorite tracks here. One, the finest cover of "Changes" (complete with horn section) by Buddy Miles that I've heard in quite a long time. Winwood's vocals are just right for this track. Also on disc 2 he covers Ray Charles' "Georgia On My Mind" (to which he covered back during his Spencer Davis days), so what does Winwood do but accompany himself with the best leslie organ playing imaginable. Reminds me of some soulful Jimmy Smith playing. Back to E.C. now. Eric does a stirring tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn's bluesy "Double Trouble" song. His acoustic version of "Ramblin' On My Mind" by the blues master Robert Johnson is also a masterpiece. His acoustic guitar sounds so rich and full. Now the last track of this live gig is Eric's "Cocaine", but the kicker here is Steve Winwood's piano break slot towards the end of the classic hit. Winwood plays with such high finesse that it fits in perfectly. Makes me wonder if Clapton was thinking to himself maybe he should have allowed an acoustic or electric piano solo break in his original recording of the song.Mmmmmmmm very interesting. Sorry if this review got a little long-winded, but what can I say, the music moved me. So sue me, yuk yuk. I do highly suggest this as a added addition to your collection. These two good 'ol Brits definetly deserve the utmost respect, indeed. By Behr (Okieland, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Stellar Duo Even though the material is a superb example supporting these time tested, gifted artists the recording quality is a true disappointment. Granted I understand it's a live performance but not up to speed with today's technology By Bob (Gerald, MO. USA) This review is for a different format. |
