| | Gloriana CD Gloriana Discography of CDs
Gloriana's stylized synthesis of Fleetwood Mac and '70s Californian country-rock is designed to elicit astonished gasps of "they sure don't make them like this anymore"--which is more or less true, especially when the group's composition is taken into the equation. Gloriana is an old-fashioned construction of a band, assembled mainly from old pros who haven't quite hit the big time yet -- although Cheyenne Kimball, veteran of America's Most Talented Kid and her own MTV reality show in 2006, came close. The group has been put through major-label machinations, singing songs from professional songwriters, and produced by Matt Serletic, best-known for his work with Matchbox 20 and Collective Soul, and now launching his own Emblem label with Gloriana as its flagship debut artist. Serletic co-wrote the bulk of the songs on the group's self-titled debut, steering the band toward a bright, melodic crossover country-pop that greatly emphasizes the latter. Sometimes, this approach is entirely too slick, particularly when the rhythms are pounding too hard on "Wild at Heart" and "You Said," but at their best, Gloriana can evoke the forgotten charms of '70s studio-centric soft rock in both its mellow and rocking incarnations.
Personnel: Tom Gossin (vocals, guitar, piano); Cheyenne Kimball (vocals, mandolin).
Audio Mixer: Justin Niebank.
Billboard (p.28) - "Country act Gloriana's self-titled debut album has a vibrant sound that's driven by the incredible four-par harmonies from group members..." Gloriana Review

Gloriana
$6.86 When a teenage LeAnn Rimes burst on the scene in the mid-1990s, country fans were astounded by her uncanny vocal resemblance to the late, great Patsy Cline. Perhaps in reaction to this initial pigeon-holing, Rimes moved further and further away from her straight country roots; as the singer's career progressed, she eventually became a country-pop diva on par with Shania Twain and Faith Hill.
As the title suggests, THIS WOMAN completes Rimes's transformation into an adult crossover artist. Despite the twangy guitar licks of "I Want to With You," the track has much in common with the driving teen-pop anthems of Lindsay Lohan and Avril Lavigne as it does with Nashville's "new traditionalists." "Something's Gotta Give" delivers an interesting hybrid, pairing careening bluegrass violin with electric sitar straight out of a 1960s film soundtrack. Through it all, Rimes's voice remains a powerful, husky instrument imbued with equal parts stadium glitter and honky-tonk sawdust. In particular, "When This Woman Loves a Man" is a bluesy, Hammond organ-fueled tour de force that sounds like Bonnie Raitt on a drunken night out with Janis Joplin. An assertive statement by a fully formed artist, THIS WOMAN showcases Rimes at the peak of her ...

| | Resonant Drift Call CD (2009)
Gloriana
$13.65 Bill Olien started Resonant Drift in 2004 with the release of the self titled debut âResonant Drift.â The CD generated interest both on-line and on several electronic radio shows. Several tracks from the CD available for download were in the top 10 of total downloads on download.com. The follow up CD âVersion 2.0â was released in 2005. Nev Dorrington of the Ultima Thule radio show named the âResonant Driftâ release as âone of the best of the year.ââFlow Mingled Downâ was released in 2006 and received several positive reviews with Bill Binkleman calling it âone of the better cross genre releases in recent memoryâ. Music from the first three Resonant Drift CDs has been played on Hearts of Space, XM radio, Ultima Thule, Ping Things, Alien Air Music, Soma FMâs Drone Zone, Stillstream and many other radio and internet radio shows. After meeting in 2008, Bill invited multi-instrumentalist Gary Johnson to join Resonant Drift. Bill and Gary developed a natural synergy and found common interests in the exploration of sound and music. Combining synthesizers, guitars, percussion, ethnic instruments and field recordings, Bill Olien and Gary Johnson of Resonant Drift explore deep ambient and atmospheric sounds. Together, they recorded live, loops and sequences in their studios which became the new CD âThe Callâ officially released in May 2009.âThe Callâ was mastered and sonically enhanced by Steve Roach in the Timeroom.âThe outcome has gained a lot of depth, as it slowly goes by in textual beauty and serenity...âThe Callâ is a worthy and well executed ambient/space recording for all who love the smooth dwellings of Steve Roach and alike.âBert Strolenberg, Sonic ImmersionâThe dominant character of the album for me is one of an uplifting sense of warm floatation - this pleasant recurrent feel often has the listener blissfully entranced, bathed in the glow of a quiet sunshine...If you enjoy ambient ...
