The Brentford Trilogy Box Sets rounds up Nick Lowe's three albums from 1994 through 2001, beginning with THE IMPOSSIBLE BIRD and ending with THE CONVINCER. The former marked a quiet shift from the raucous roots rock of Lowe's 1990 reunion with Dave Edmunds, but it wasn't a beginning of a trilogy as much as the opening of a new chapter, one that continued with 2007's AT MY AGE, a record very much in the vein as the three albums here. As there are no bonus tracks here -- the only extra being a 12-page book with photos and liner notes -- there's not much reason for any fan to replace their existing copies with this box, but for anybody who doesn't already own these three albums, this is an easy, affordable way to get some superb music.Record Collector (magazine) (p.86) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Arguably Lowe's most perfectly realised song, the barfly lament 'Lately I've Let Things Slide' is the centrepiece of 2001's THE CONVINCER." Brentford Trilogy CD music
$14.42 Dismissed by the benighted as the Doors' "pop album," SOFT PARADE is one of the band's most adventurous recordings, utilizing strings and horns without resorting to schlocky over-production and moving far beyond their blues roots. Morrison was fully into his shaman phase by 1969, and his obsession with that image is reflected in the proselytizing air of "Tell All the People," and of course "Shaman's Blues." The album's biggest hit "Touch ...

| | Pepperdome Let's Try The Otherside CD (2009)
Brentford Trilogy album
$10.15 After being behind the drums for 14 years, a point came where John Tokarczyk decided to explore his own musical ideas. So in the fall of 2005 after playing with several bands and musicians he decided to take destiny into his own hands and started to build the foundation that would lead to the birth of PepperDome. With a vast interest in many musical styles, it was quickly apparent that this project would be very different than anything else John was involved in. Although most would categorize the music as rock, there are so many influences taken from around the world it is near impossible to categorize the sound created. The sophomore effort 'Let's Try The Otherside' continues from where the debut album 'That Little Man' left off. With new life experiences and additional knowledge, it is quickly apparent that this music has grown and blossomed. The music is harder hitting and more powerful than before while still holding onto the quirky side PepperDome is known for. Although each song is unique in its own way, there is a common thread that runs throughout the album to make this music a collective whole. The music has a solid drum-bass foundation that is clearly complimented with the guitar and vocal overlays. It's the thought process and phrasing of each song that makes them unique and allows them to stand out from today's music community. Don't be surprised when you notice all the melody and dynamics embedded within the album. If you are expecting to hear songs about an ex-girlfriend, alcohol, drugs, or big shiny things, move on. The album's messages reflect on one of the major themes embedded in PepperDome, understanding and exploration. Each song is designed to not only entertain, but to reflect on the world within and around you. As John says, ' We all have some level of ignorance in our lives, but we should become more aware of ourselves and our surroundings.' The lyrics are ...
| | Jordin Sparks Battlefield CD (2009)
Brentford Trilogy CD music
$24.45 Jordin Sparks didn't get any traction until she received a boost from Chris Brown via their duet "No Air," the one moment on her 2007 eponymous debut that felt unquestionably modern, so it makes perfect sense that her second album, BATTLEFIELD, ditches almost all lingering American Idol pageantry for stylized pop and R&B pitched halfway between Rihanna (whose "S.O.S." is rewritten here, with Shannon's "Let the ...
