Simultaneously, a former astronaut (Robert Duvall) finds himself in the stars once again in an attempt to prevent the catastrophe from occurring. $12.95 AUGUST RUSH is part romance, part gentle fantasy, but this sweet drama is all heart. When young cellist Lyla (Keri Russell) and rock musician Louis (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) meet at a party in the mid 1990s, it's love at first sight, and they spend the night in each other's arms. But Lyla's father forces them apart, even though she later learns she's pregnant. Later, an accident lands Lyla in the hospital, and though her father tells her that her baby died, the child survives and is given up for adoption. AUGUST RUSH jumps to the present and begins to follow Evan (Freddie Highmore), an 11 year old who has grown up in a boys' home. As Evan embarks on a crusade to find his parents, he imagines he can communicate with them through his gift for music. His journey to New York City brings him into contact with Wizard (Robin Williams), a man eager to capitalize on the child prodigy's talent. Wizard gives Evan the name August Rush as he begins performing all over the city, but the boy's ultimate goal is to find the parents he has never met.
From FINDING NEVERLAND to CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, Highmore has displayed an almost prodigious talent himself. He's a gifted young actor, and this emotional story is the perfect venue for his acting. AUGUST RUSH isn't a film for the cynics, but even the hard-hearted in the audience will have difficulty not being touched by this sentimental film. As in Evan's life, music plays a central role in AUGUST RUSH, and ...

Deep Impact DVD
$24.95 Accomplished indie actor Mark Webber (STORYTELLING, THE HOTTEST STATE) makes an ambitious debut behind the camera with EXPLICIT ILLS. Set in the same Philadelphia streets where he himself was raised, Webber’s script introduces a wide range of characters and follows them over the course of one eventful summer: Michelle (Frankie Shaw) and Jacob (Lou Taylor Pucci) are aspiring artists who fall victim to the temptations of drug abuse; Jill (Naomie Harris) and Kaleef (Tariq Trotter) are the spiritually healthy but financially tenuous parents of Heslin (Ross K. Kim-McManus); the asthmatic Babo (Francisco Burgos) lives under the watchful eye of his mother (Rosario Dawson); young teenager Demetri (Martin Cepeda) must tone down his macho act to score the girl of his dreams; and Rocco (Paul Dano) is an aspiring actor who’s struggling to make it through each day.
Webber uses a fresh visual palette for each of his narrative threads: a synthetic, videogame surreality fuels the story of the drug-addled young lovers; a well-tempered precision frames the home life of Jill and Kaleef; and the innocent tale of Babo is photographed with a nostalgic, aged hue. Webber is careful not to force overlaps between his characters, which makes his film’s conclusion ...

$32.09 THE WHITEST KIDS YOU KNOW comedians Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore star in this raunchy comedy. Eugene (Cregger) is just about to have sex for the first time with his gorgeous girlfriend when he falls down the stairs. He awakens from a coma four years later, and his desire to see his love is hampered by the fact that she is now a Playboy Playmate. MISS MARCH also stars Craig Robinson of THE OFFICE.
Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore of the comedy troupe The Whitest Kids You Know write, direct, and star in this gross-out comedy targeted at the AMERICAN PIE and OLD SCHOOL fanbase. High-school buddies Eugene (Cregger) and Tucker (Moore) make an odd pair, with Eugene a virgin who gives abstinence seminars, and Tucker a player since the first time he saw Playboy magazine back when the two men were just kids. Tucker is the first to egg Eugene on when Eugene’s girlfriend Cindi (Raquel Alessi), a fellow virgin spokesperson, decides she wants to have sex after the prom. Apprehensive about doing it before marriage, Eugene downs one too many shots, mistakes the cellar door for the hallway, and falls down a flight of stairs instead of into the arms of his lover. The next time we see Eugene, he is waking up from a four-year coma. Not only does Eugene no longer have control of his bowels (a theme the film explores in graphically detailed scenes of the character soiling himself), but he’s also lost the girl of his dreams to Playboy, where the formerly virginal Cindi appears as a centerfold.
