Personnel: Al Hollis (guitar, background vocals); Alton Hollis (guitar); Donald Hayes (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone); Arturo Solar (trumpet); John Roberts & Tony Barrand, John Roberts (trombone); Patrick Hobson (organ); Cedric Vance (keyboards); Dwayne Welch (drums, background vocals); Roger McKiney, Patrick Hollis (background vocals). Audio Mixer: Rich Caughron. Recording information: The Temple Of Deliverance COGIC, Memphis, TN (05/2009). Arranger: Jerry Peters. Seemingly an overnight sensation when they exploded onto the national scene in the mid-`90s, Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC's had actually been paying their dues since 1968. The years of experience shine through in every nook and cranny of FALL ON ME, which incorporates the best elements of `60s, `70s, and `80s R&B into a bluesy sound that is full of the Spirit. From the rump-shaking soul-blues-style groove of "So Good to Me" to the old-school churchin' rave-up "Another Chance," FALL ON ME finds the QCs and Lee Williams's Otis Redding-esque voice in top form. Lee Williams & the Spiritual QC's have long done the obvious in their concerts and releases -- their brand of gospel takes elements of classic R&B, soul, and Motown (all of which secularized gospel rhythms and energies in the first place) and reasserts them into the gospel format, resulting in music that is decidedly not secular, but moves and flows like it is, exactly, in fact, like urban pop music. Again, it's an obvious thing, but very difficult to pull off. Fall on Me was again recorded live at the Temple of Deliverance in Memphis, TN on May 2, 2009, and again features Williams handling the lead on most of the songs, several of which, like the title track, "Fall on Me," he also wrote or co-wrote. The energy and harmonies are charged, and this is devotional music one can dance to, if not actually boogie down to in the aisles. The horns really add to things here (Arturo Solar on trumpet, John Roberts on trombone, and Donald Hayes on alto, tenor and baritone saxophones; he also handled most of the horn arrangements), giving these songs a lot of punch. ~ Steve Leggett Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC Fall On Me Songs | 1. | Steal My Joy |

This is a truly anointed group of singers. I was blessed to flick through the channels about five months ago, when I heard this group of anointed christians singing. In fact,Mr. Lee Willliams was the only one that I heard at the time. Only later to find out that there were more spiritual singers along with him. Well, the song that I heard was "Jesus Will Fix It." The lyrics were great, but the sincere power of Mr. Williams voice
was awesome. You ask for a rating,...well in my opinion, five stars are simply not enough. They are off of the chart. Also, I love to hear Lee Williams say..."I got one more thing to say!" That is very unique, and classy. The other singer who plays the guitar is great. It's not everyday you find someone who sings great, and also plays an instrument. The drummer....well, what can I say, he is blessed to no end. Lee Williams and the spiritual QC's are and will continue to be blessed by our great God. I am sooooo glad that I have a chance to hear this group sing again and again. I could listen to them everyday, and still want more of their spiritual singing. The songs are taken straight from the bible....if that's not anointing, I don't know what is.LEE WILLIAMS AND THE SPIRITUAL QC'S STAY HEALTHY, KEEP SINGING PRAISES TO OUR GREAT GOD, AND MAY YOU FOREVER BE RICHLY BLESSED. Fall On Me
$13.85 Personnel: Art Tatum (vocals, piano); Chocolate Williams (vocals, bass); Ollie Potter (vocals); Frank Newton (trumpet); Ebenezer Paul (bass); Reuben Harris (whiskbrooms). Recorded in 1940 & 1941. Includes liner notes by Dan Morgenstern. This 1998 HighNote CD reissues a long-out-of-print Art Tatum LP that was put out by the defunct Onyx label in 1973. The live performances are from the Jerry Newman collection of acetate discs and are fortunately in better technical quality than most of the music from Newman's archives. The remarkable Art Tatum is heard playing three brief, unaccompanied piano solos in 1940, three other numbers in which he is accompanied by Reuben Harris (beating out some quiet rhythms with whiskbrooms on a suitcase), and four duets with bassist-vocalist Chocolate Williams; Tatum has a brief vocal on "Knockin' Myself Out" and a more extensive one on "Toledo Blues," the only times he ever sang on record. In addition, Tatum and Williams back Ollie Potter (a pretty good if completely unknown singer) on "There'll Be Some Changes Made." Best of all are a pair of exciting trio numbers ("Lady Be Good" and a very memorable "Sweet Georgia Brown") in which Tatum stretches out with bassist Ebenezer Paul and the great, underrated trumpeter Frankie Newton. It is fascinating to hear Newton's playing on "Sweet Georgia Brown," which is fairly simple and calm, while Tatum sounds like a volcano ...
