Purchase Sonic Smash CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Beatnuts CD (1994)
Sonic Smash album
$9.89 The Beatnuts' first full-length album is as pure a document of raw, hardcore hip-hop circa 1994 as is possible to get. No pop hooks, no slick production, no ballads or lyrics about money and girls. The individual cuts don't really stand out, instead flowing seamlessly into a powerful whole. It's almost a period piece, given the way that hip-hop eventually gave way, as the '90s progressed, to the excessive bling-bling of the Puff Daddy era, but it also sounds ...
| | Das EFX Dead Serious CD (1992)
Sonic Smash CD music
$8.39 Das EFX -- part of EPMD's Def Squad crew, which also included K-Solo and Redman, among others -- made such a wide breakthrough in 1992 with their debut album that their hit "They Want EFX" was even referenced in the lily-white teen serial Beverly Hills 90210. That Dead Serious could have that sort of broad impact and still retain its credibility within the underground hip-hop community says something ...
| | Main Source F*CK What You Think CD (1994)
Sonic Smash music CDs
$9.75 Even if Main Source's lineup had remained the same for the follow-up to Breaking Atoms, the group would've had trouble following it up. That's not all the group had working against it. Most significantly, in a very gutsy move, K-Cut and Sir Scratch opted to keep Main Source running after the departure of Large Professor, easily their greatest asset as both an MC and a producer. They replaced him with the rougher-sounding Mikey D. and didn't return with F*ck What You Think until a full three years after Breaking ...

Sonic Smash music CDs
$12.69 X: True Un-Hollywood StoryWeapon X was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept 17. 1981. The son of two Iranian immigrants here under political asylum the Weapon was exposed to books and music early in life. By the age of three he was reading simple childrens books and headphones on his head were a regular fixture. After spending his early childhood in NY his parents decided to make the move to Los Angeles, California in hopes of finding a better future and a better environment for the family. Almost immediately X already didnt fit in and often times didnt get along with the teachers or his classmates. X began getting into fights with other children who decided it would be fun to mock his name and heritage. Fighting seemed to be the only way to get any respect. It also landed him in lots of trouble at school and at home. This would help him develop a tougher skin that would become invaluable to him in later years. It was what also what would bring trouble his way throughout his late teens. It was during this period of time that he really began to discover his love for music as well. Becoming a member of the schools chorus in an effort to get out of class he discovered that he really enjoyed music. He began singing solos in front of audiences and being apart of school performances. However this was short lived. Upon entering high school X had decided that a male singer was not a good image to have in a place where everyone took every opportunity to poke fun at other peoples weaknesses. Furthermore his voice cracked leaving him with a less that desirable voice. This lead him to then experiment with poetry, and eventually combine his experience with melody and rhyme to make the transition into hip hop music as a way to cope with difficult times in his life.A few years and scrapped projects later the Weapon finally released his debut album Portrait of a "Starving Artist" on Jan 29th 2008. Featuring production by the late Clockwork Murder, the album is a vivid depiction of the hardships X ...
