Interview Sessions
$18.09 DJ Alex Patterson is the Orb, but he is aided and assisted by the original techno-shamans, Steve Hillage and wife Miquette Giraudy (AKA techno duo System 7), and by such notables from the club-hopper gang as Jim Cauty (The KLF), Thrash, and Trevor Horn (of the Buggles, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Yes fame). The Orb's mesmerizing debut, ADVENTURES BEYOND THE ULTRAWORLD, rejuvenates the DIY ethic, revalidating the Eno credo of self-proclaimed ...
| | Jihad Jerry & The Evildoers Mine Is Not A Holy War CD (2006)
Interview Sessions
$12.39 2006 has been a year of strange happenings in the Devo camp -- first the Spud Boys reinvented themselves as a tween-friendly pop act called Devo 2.0 with the help of the Disney corporation, and now Jerry Casale, one of the group's founding members, has revamped his persona while overhauling the band's malevolent synth-pop as Jihad Jerry & the Evildoers. In addition to Jerry Casale, Jihad Jerry's debut album, Mine Is Not a Holy War, also features fellow Devo veterans Mark Mothersbaugh, Bob Mothersbaugh, and Robert Casale, with John Freese (who has played with Devo on recent live dates) behind the drums, so it's no surprise that this album sounds like an updated and slightly funkier version of Devo. Unfortunately, the Devo albums it most closely resembles are mediocre later efforts such as Shout and Smooth Noodle Maps; this is aggressively ...
| | Howard Devoto Jerky Versions Of The Dream CD (1983) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Interview Sessions
$9.69 Erstwhile Buzzcock and former front man of post-punk outfits Magazine and Luxuria, Howard Devoto has always been somewhat difficult to peg musically. After disbanding Magazine in the early '80s, Devoto went on to pursue a short-lived solo career, resulting in his lone 1983 effort, JERKY VERSIONS OF THE DREAM. More pop-based than any of his previous efforts, the songs all ...

Interview Sessions
$12.69 Born in Venice Beach California - hippy parents, a backyard of ocean and sand for miles, and a dog named Smokey. By 4 it's off to Hawaii - an orchid farm, a tree house, and a goat named Nanna. It's to the east coast and rural New York by 6 - a cabin, no electricity, no running water (as a matter of fact no real modern amenities at all), and a beakless rooster named lips. The unifying thread to Joshua's early years (besides the companionship of his fuzzy friends) was nature, space, creativity, imagination and especially music. With a bassist/floral designer for a Dad and an artist for a Mom, music was the fourth member of the family. First, there was the diverse collection of vinyl, then combine instruments from around the world as functional decor in every room, add musician friends on every couch and you have all the basic food groups for a starving artist to be. Joshua picked up every instrument he could get his hands on and was on his way. Despite his unfulfilled plans to be a rock star by 18 Joshua kept his focus, held off on getting a "real" job, and hit the road. He formed the band "Primitive Ink" and toured the east coast enjoying regional success, always returning to his home base at The Bitter End in NYC. The fact that Joshua was writing songs for the band but not singing them eventually prompted his interest in finding his voice as a solo artist. He headed back to his roots and landed in Venice Beach. It was here that he began crafting his skills as a singer/songwriter less than a mile from where he was born. While living in L.A. Joshua has developed a style ...
