$16.45 The X-Press Band is an extremely versatile group that has performed for over two decades throughout the United States, Canada, South America, West Africa and the Caribbean. Organized in 1985 in Brooklyn, New York, the five core members of the band are Al Baptiste, Sr., on keyboards; Patrick "P.O." Edwards, lead vocalist and guitarist; Dean Baptiste, lead vocals and bass; Toby Derima on drums; with Pat Ragguette on lead and background vocals. X-Press Band's repertoire is quite extensive and includes Soca, Reggae, Jazz and R&B., but the band's primary genre is Calypso. More than 90% of the music recorded by the band are original songs, written by its members. In 1985 the group released its first single with the songs Sugar Candy and Leroy. $19.45 Winner of the Radio-Canada Etoiles-Galaxie prize in 2009, Merovitz Project is the hottest new Montrealais YIDDISH/KLEZMER ensemble of 7 players to appear on the World Music scene. Here is a live presentation of their standing room only show at Sala Rossa from Dec. /08. The basic Trio of Allan Merovitz (vocals), Henri Oppenheim (accordion) and Julie Triquet (violin) are augmented by a rhythm and a brass section in stunning new arrangements.

Merovitz, with his warm tenor voice, entices us into the Jewish cultural world. Skillfully using his theatrical and storytelling backgrounds, he enfolds us in his web. The vast experience of performing and recording with some of the worlds' best (The Flying Bulgars/Toronto, Ot Azoj/Amsterdam, Beyond The Pale/Toronto and KlezMerovitz/Calgary), Allan demonstrates his passion for communicating with an audience.

Henri Oppenheim, inspired mathematician switched to what became his passion, musical composition at McGill University. He quickly rose through the ranks to become the longtime director and front-man of the Montreal band Kleztory. In 07, he won the prestigious OPUS of the Conseil québecois de la Musique, for the best Jazz/World music album. Multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer and producer, he has worked with I Musici de Montreal and some of Quebec's best symphonies (Laval, Québec, Montreal)
