| | Residents Ten Little Piggies CD (2009)
Sorry Try Again
$10.50 The Residents have been on quite a creative streak in the first decade of the new millennium, with a bunch of new albums, a pretty extensive reissue campaign, and retrospectives like the Kettles of Fish compilation. And judging from the "futurist compilation" Ten Little Piggies, they aren't slowing down at all. The "Ten Little Piggies" referred to are actually ten different projects that may or may not be completed and/or released (actually, as of the release date in late 2009, a couple of the projects have been released as downloads only and The Ughs! received a physical release as well). It's quite a mix. Several of these projects revisit earlier ones, like the Tweedles and Voice of Midnight instrumentals, which are interesting because those albums were originally so driven by narrative that the music was almost secondary. Apparently, they're also working on a Duck Stab Re-Imagined album, represented here by an almost drum'n'bass-style "Semolina" and a surprisingly dark take on "Laughing ...
| | 2562 Unbalance CD (2009)
Sorry Try Again
$12.78 Dave Huisman's first 2562 album, Aerial, contained a handful of certifiably massive dubstep tracks, but the album was sometimes skeletal to a fault -- not quite featureless, yet dangerously close to it, more akin to a second-tier release from a dub techno label like Echocord. That becomes all the more clear through Unbalance. Everything ...

| | Windham Hill Christmas II CD (2003)
Sorry Try Again
$6.09 Following in the footsteps of the previous collection, A Windham Hill Christmas, Vol. 2 gathers more relaxing, sophisticated holiday music as performed by Windham Hill's roster of artists. The collection finds the right balance between traditional and contemporary, both in terms of its sound and its choice of songs. Will Ackerman and David Cullen's "I Wonder as I Wander" sounds gently modern, while Paul McCandless' "In Dulci Jubilo" has a slightly more traditional bent. Tracy Silverman and Thea Suits' strings and flute interpretation of "Away in a Manger" mixes both approaches ...

Sorry Try Again
$16.45 Hi everyone, My name is Bill LeBlanc. After years of playing in numerous bands around my home area,(South West Nova Scotia) some of them being: (The Grinders, StageCru, Jazzotica, SumerHaze) and playing many, many cover tunes, I decided it was time to write and record a few songs of my own. So Between October 1, 2006 and ...

| | Basss Brains CD (2009)
Sorry Try Again
$15.15 Uniting the widely varied entries in this compilation from German electronica label Brd Basss are two elements: bass (obviously) and beats. But the bass is not consistently overpowering, nor are the beats consistently slamming. There's plenty of sonic hardness, of course: Lexie Lee's "We Don't Play," CLP's "Putcha Handz Up," and Yo Majesty's "Club Action" start out the program with a one-two-three punch of powerful (and completely unsuitable for airplay) female-fronted hip-hop. But after those three tracks, things start getting charmingly weird: A.M.T.'s German "Schwerer Junge," dOP & Bulit's weirdly soft-spoken "Nasty Boys," and Robot Koch's "Death Star Droid" (with its queasy, barely funky groove and its pointillistic array of cute little space alien sounds), for example. The German lyrics keep coming back, which will grab your attention if it should start to wander, ...
