Cheap Trick: Sgt. Pepper Live Movie Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Excellent job Cheap Trick does an excellent job of performing this classic album cover to cover, with a little help from some of their friends. Visually this album is a treat and the sound quality is excellent. If you are a fan of Cheap Trick or the Beatles, you need to add this to your collection. A nice bonus is the performance of the medley from Abby Road as the encore. I could go on forever about this, so just go buy it now. Submitted by Hodgeskj (Indianapolis, IN) Was This Review Helpful? sgt pepper finally LIVE It only took 40 plus years to be performed live, bottom line, very good.
Great not quite, it's not the Beatles, but being that will never happen, well done. Cheap Trick has always thrown some Beatles in the mix through the years and this is without question their best tribute, the boys are well versed in Sgt Pepper and are joined on stage by various artist which ENHANCE the experience, the orchestra is GREAT.
My only disappointment was that 'A day in the life was shortened' it deserves the full six plus minutes.
A worthy buy, I caught it on SALE for a mere 7.99, a real steal... Submitted by bryan (meridian ms) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.

1976's A NEW WORLD RECORD is both a classic of commercial '70s pop and an archetypal ELO album. From the outer-space synths and rich orchestrations that open the album to Jeff Lynne's meticulous production and Beatlesque melodies, A NEW WORLD RECORD is magnificent ear candy. Both ambitious enough to appeal to "serious" rock fans and ultra-catchy enough to sound terrific on Top 40 radio (the plaintively gorgeous, McCartney-like "Telephone Line" and the anthemic "Livin' Thing" were well-deserved smashes), ELO was one of the few '70s bands whose appeal covered both the FM and AM spectrums. The album even resurrects "Do Ya," a classic single by Lynne's former band, the Move, in a splashy new version.
The next ELO album, 1977's elaborate double-album OUT OF THIS WORLD, was probably the band's commercial high point, but A NEW WORLD RECORD is the group's artistic high-water mark.
Jeff Lynne reportedly regards this album and its follow-up, Out of the Blue, as the high points in the band's history. One might be better off opting for A New World Record over its successor, however, as a more modest-sized creation chock full of superb songs that are produced even better. Opening with the opulently orchestrated "Tightrope," which heralds the perfect production found throughout this album, A New World Record contains seven of the best songs ever to come out of the group. The Beatles influence is present, to be sure, but developed to a very high degree of sophistication ...

Cheap Trick: Sgt. Pepper Live film
$12.15 With the success of the LOVE, a Beatles-based Las Vegas show/multimedia collaboration between George Martin and French circus troupe Cirque de Soleil, demand was high for another Sin City Fab Four-related event. The result was SGT. PEPPER LIVE, an in-concert re-creation of the Liverpool lads' most famous work (a work they themselves never performed live). Unlike LOVE, however, which employed a recorded sound collage culled from original Beatles master tapes, the SGT. PEPPER LIVE show tapped veteran power pop band Cheap Trick to perform the music. The result is a joyous and reverent celebration of the legendary record delivered by a band of avowed Beatles fanatics. Amazingly, though Rick Nielsen and company stay remarkably true to the arrangements, instrumental textures, and even guitar solos of the original disc, the concert still sounds exactly like Cheap Trick. Whereas the Beatles were more than capable of rocking hard, Cheap Trick has always been at its core a hard rock band, and that aspect of the group's sound is subtly apparent in the bristling energy and chugging forcefulness of its performance; the spooky delicacy of Paul McCartney's autumnal-sounding verses on "Fixing a Hole" are replaced by a soaring vocal and muscular rhythm section kick, and even "When I'm Sixty-Four" has a certain driving quality that reveals the performers are American rockers and not, like Sir Paul, devotees of jaunty pre-war ...
