Metanoia album by Porcupine Tree was released Oct 13, 2009 on the Kscope label. METANOIA was originally released as a limited edition double 10" and contains instrumental jams recorded during sessions for the band's album SIGNIFY, plus two bonus tracks. Metanoia songs Originally released in 1998 as a limited-edition double 10", Metananoia collects several instrumental studio jams Porcupine Tree recorded during the 1995-1996 sessions for its Signify album. These outtakes are widely considered to be some of the band's most experimental and spacious work ever. The 2002 CD reissue includes two bonus tracks, remastered sound, and expanded artwork. interesting portrait
In reference to the other review for this album- this does NOT suck! In the description for this release it clearly states that these are jams that took place while recording Signfy. There are no structured songs, but just improvisations with the band exploring riffs. This may or may not be your cup of tea. If you are not a big fan of this band I would suggest a more "structured" release as an introduction.

Sounds Familiar
This CD is rather slow and not very creative on the instruments. It has many parts where it "sounds familiar" to some parts listened to prior on the CD. Some of the jams were tedious. Don't get me wrong, there were some parts that had great tones, and let my mind drift as the music flowed. I am glad to have bought it, but I do enjoy some of their other CDs alot more.

Essential PT album!!
Excellent album. Different, but essential for any PT fan. In this album, the band demonstrates what great musicians they are. It is a set of improvisations, some of them are real masterpieces that can perfectly be part of an album. I can perfectly imagine the as being part of the Signify or Up the downstairs album. Buy it now!!

this sucked
what an incredible disappointment. no lyrics, really bad instrumental. its kinda like pink floyd but the music goes nowhere. i can see why no of this was used in a studio album. it sucked, it sucked, it sucked. buy in absentia it was awsome.
