Soundtrack English A provocative view of the gritty life of runaways living on the streets of America's cities. Often fleeing abusive families, the kids form their own "family." When their father figure is falsely accused of murder, their frustrations in life explode. Stripped of sentimentality, this film visits homeless teens and young adults who survive on the margins of society. Living by begging, theft and prostitution, this loose-knit community forms an extended family. King (Dermot Mulroney) is the unofficial patriarch looking after the motley crew of addicts and runaways. He especially works hard to keep Greg (Sean Astin), a troubled boy, away from a local drug dealer. But all King's street smarts are not enough to protect his friends from danger. Director Marc Rocco's 1992 film features a dream cast of young actors before they were stars. Shot in Foto-Kem color.
Additional cast members include Debbie James (Mrs. Burtis); Ken Kerman (Older Man); Cynthia Szigeti (Charles); Joey Dedio (Teen); Dennis Phun (Korean Man) and Michael Maguire (Cop #2). Where The Day Takes You video
$18.59 In this unique mobster movie, Scott Baio heads up a prepubescent cast as the title character, a child gangster determined to rule over New York City. Instead of throwing fists or bullets, the Prohibition-era kiddie mobsters sling confections at one another. When Bugsy learns that a rival gang has developed a secret weapon capable of firing sweets as quick as a machine gun shoots bullets, he sets out to heist the high-tech tart-launcher.
BUGSY MALONE, director Alan Parker's first feature, cleverly spoofs the rich, cliché-ridden history of films about organized crime while lightly mocking the childlike, selfish traits of grown-ups. The engaging silliness is periodically spirited forward by several song-and-dance numbers composed by bubblegum pop maestro Paul Williams.
