| | Kittie In The Black CD Kittie Discography of CDs
For the most part, Ontario-based metal outfit Kittie's fifth offering feels a lot like their first four. The band's tried-and-true formula of Metallica-sized riffing, death metal wailing, and choruses that sound like Heart's Nancy Wilson fronting Norwegian greasepaint rockers Dimmu Borgir, has proven to be more than effective, earning the continuously ferocious, all-female quartet a loyal following both at home and overseas. IN THE BLACK should do little to dilute that success, as it plays to the band's strengths while pushing the envelope just enough to cry progress. IN THE BLACK may break little ground for the group, but it certainly fortifies what they've been standing on for the last decade.

In The Black album
$10.15 Albert Collins & The Icebreakers: Albert Collins (vocals, guitar); Marvin Jackson (guitar); A.C. Reed (tenor saxophone); Allen Batts (organ); Johnny B. Gayden (bass); Casey Jones (drums).
Recorded live at The Union Bar in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 5-8, 1981.
For the fans of Albert Collins who never got the chance to see him live (Collins passed away in 1993), FROZEN ALIVE! does its part to rectify the injustice. While Collins's "icy" guitar style (so called for his cool, dark-hued tone and space-filled approach to phrasing) was always very well captured on studio recordings, ...

Out of the darkness shines a hint of hope with ALU's debut CD "Infomercial Gasmask." Her 11 song mood piece is a blend of solid songwriting, dark electronica and crystal clear vocals, an intense mixture of jazz, pop and classical music that can only be described as "ALU." This collection of songs examines the destructive nature of modern life and its damaging effects on the fragile human condition. ALU's apocalyptic lullabies give hope and strength in such desperate times. A haunting yet healing voice that challenges and inspires. ALU is the sound of the future. Alu's ...
| | Sophe Lux Waking The Mystics CD (2007)
In The Black music CDs
$14.05 Kate Bush's welcome influence is apparent on the Portland, Oregon band Sophe Lux's second album, an arty blend of glam and prog rock with more than its fair share of catchy titles. Overseen by Wendy Haynes, sister of the filmmaker Todd Haynes, the sound is by turns glamorous, ethereal, mysterious, and playful, with songs like the opus "God Doesn't Take American Express," and the multi-part "Marie Antoinette Robot 2073," highlighting Haynes's imaginative, all-inclusive way with a lyric, as well as her band's supple, dynamic playing.

| | Fabolous Loso's Way CD (2009)
In The Black CD music
$10.75 There are very few frills to Fabolous's style; the NYC rapper merely spits witty rhymes over bouncy, dance-floor-ready beats out of the P. Diddy school. On his fourth studio album (second for Def Jam), 2009's LOCO'S WAY, the sprawl-drawled MC continues to provide the world with Summery jams like its debut single, "My Time."
A concept album from a punch line rapper is an unattractive proposition, so it's fortunate that LOSO'S WAY strays off topic even more than Jay-Z's AMERICAN GANGSTER. Named after Fabolous' own feature film - made available in a limited-edition version of the album - LOSO'S WAY is inspired by the Al Pacino vehicle Carlito's Way. Other than a track named after the character "Pachanga" plus a couple other references within the rhymes, this ...
| | Roy Orbison Sun Years 1956-58 CD (1989) (Import) Germany
In The Black music CDs
$22.69 Roy Orbison wasn't among the great rockabilly cats, as his voice was a little too rich and his performances a little too mannered to truly rock with abandon. Nevertheless, he did cut a pair of terrific rockabilly singles for Sun with "Ooby Dooby" and "Domino." He never quite reached those heights again while on Sun, as Bear Family's single-disc collection The Sun Years 1956-58 illustrates. Containing every track he recorded for the label, including alternate takes and undubbed mixes, the collection suffers from too much similar-sounding ...
