Photographer: Christian Lantry. Brian McKnight's lone set of non-Christmas material for Warner Bros., 2006's TEN, peaked exactly where his previous six proper albums topped out (within the Top Five of Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart), yet he finds himself on E1 (formerly Koch) for EVOLUTION OF A MAN. Though he has written and produced plenty of his own material in the past, he did it all on this one, and presumably provided much of its instrumentation. It's a set that is predominantly slow, sparse, and intimate. Most of the album's last two-thirds offers familiar McKnight fare -- sensitive, soothing backdrops that are at least comforting when not uplifting. Earlier on, as well as in a couple instances deeper into the album, McKnight takes some risks with tracks that contain little more than pattering percussion and twinkling keyboards; here, the sonics are more memorable than the songs, and not much of the album as a whole holds up to repeated listening. Some of McKnight's devoted fanbase will find the album rather fascinating since it's a change of pace, more a collection of loose sketches than a highly polished set.Entertainment Weekly (p.57) - "He fares better with 'Not Alone,' a spacey ballad that Stevie Wonder might admire." -- Grade: B- Billboard (p.32) - "[B]allads remain his strong suit, especially the moving 'Another You.' It's signature McKnight: just him on the keyboards singing passionate, heartfelt lyrics." Brian Mcknight Evolution Of A Man Songs Evolution Of A Man Review

| | T-Pain Rappa Ternt Sanga CD (2005)
Evolution Of A Man
$8.99 In the mold of R. Kelly and Chris Brown comes T-Pain, an urban contemporary artist who mixes R&B with a hip-hop sensibility. "I'm Sprung," the lead-off single from the album, is a sweet, sensual jam with an electronically tweaked vocal line, and lets listeners know what to expect from this up-and-comer. T-Pain is not a top-notch vocalist, but his voice has a slinky appeal that's heightened by smooth production, and the mix of ballads and dance tracks make for a varied, stylish listen. RAPPA TERNT SANGA positions T-Pain as yet another strong contender in the urban contemporary scene. T-Pain caught Akon's attention when he released a version of "Locked Up" titled "I'm F***ed Up." When Akon heard T-Pain's voice and realized there was more depth to the version than the title implied, he got in contact with the Florida-based "rappa ternt sanga" (who also produces and writes) and signed him to his Jive-distributed ...

| | Ian Insane N3rdsongs CD (2009)
Evolution Of A Man
$13.29 In 2008 Insane Ian, a comedian and videogame enthusiast from Baltimore, Maryland, released a parody of the classic rock tune by Foreigner, “Juke Box Hero”, about the nation’s most popular rhythm based video game series. “Guitar Hero” went on to become the 11th most requested song for 2008 on the syndicated Dr. Demento radio show (the very same radio show that gave “Weird Al” Yankovic his start). Now, Insane Ian has released a full length CD featuring that song and more, entitled “n3rds0ngs”.“[The] production is great...interesting subject matter. ...One of very few people in comedy music who can get up there into Robert Plant territory." – Dr. Demento, speaking on the subject of Insane Ian and “n3rds0ngs”. “n3rds0ngs”, features 17 tracks (both originals and parodies) ranging in geeky subject matter from video games, the internet, and Sci-Fi film and television shows, to more “relatable” themes such as Narcolepsy and unhealthy obsessions with the Moon, celebrity Christina Ricci, and Zombies. As “Guitar Hero” became popular on the radio and internet, more songs began pouring out of Ian’s mind. From the underlying love story between Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley from the “Harry Potter” books (“Hey There, Hermione”), to the first season summarization of the TV Show Heroes (“Saving The World As We Know It (Mondays At Nine)”) no subject was too far-fetched for I.I. to tackle.Ian even entered a competition in order to hone his skills in both song writing and comedy. “The Masters of Song Fu” at QuickStopEntertainment.com pitted him against other comedians and musicians, such as Jonathan Coulton and Paul & Storm. This venture yielded two efforts, “Luna, See?” and “The Gigawatt”.So the Insane one wrote more, and since he had no real musical skill of his ...
