Kate Bush's welcome influence is apparent on the Portland, Oregon band Sophe Lux's second album, an arty blend of glam and prog rock with more than its fair share of catchy titles. Overseen by Wendy Haynes, sister of the filmmaker Todd Haynes, the sound is by turns glamorous, ethereal, mysterious, and playful, with songs like the opus "God Doesn't Take American Express," and the multi-part "Marie Antoinette Robot 2073," highlighting Haynes's imaginative, all-inclusive way with a lyric, as well as her band's supple, dynamic playing.
