Personnel: Guy Clark (vocals, acoustic guitar); Shawn Camp (vocals, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, mandolin, fiddle); Verlon Thompson (vocals, acoustic guitar, nylon-string guitar, harmonica). Audio Mixer: Chris Latham. Recording information: EMI Studios, Nashville. SOMEDAYS THE SONG WRITES YOU, country elder Guy Clark's eleventh studio album, is a crafted collection of compositions that rank among some of his best. Clark's tobacco and whiskey stained voice has never sounded better than it does on such tracks as "The Guitar," a fiery number about a wayward musician and the pawnshop guitar that causes an unexpected awakening in him, and "Hollywood,", a slow grooving cut that takes a sideways look at the world famous district of Los Angeles, California. SOMEDAYS THE SONG WRITES YOU is another choice album from one of the greatest songwriters to ever come out of the state of Texas. Texas singer-songwriter Guy Clark has been a patriarchal figure to many in the Nashville songwriting community for decades. Artists like Rodney Crowell and Steve Earle studied under the watchful eye of Clark during their early years. Like friend Townes Van Zandt before him, Clark is a master storyteller, a dream weaver blessed with the ability to match ear-catching melodies with poetic lyrics that aim for the deepest part of the listener's soul. Somedays the Song Writes You, Clark's eleventh studio album, is a well-crafted collection of compositions that rank among some of his best. Clark's tobacco-and-whiskey-stained voice has never sounded better than it does on such tracks as "The Guitar," a fiery number about a wayward musician and the pawnshop guitar that causes an unexpected awakening in him, and "Hollywood," a slow-grooving cut that takes a sideways look at the world-famous district of Los Angeles, CA. Clark, as he has on previous albums, covers a Townes Van Zandt tune on Somedays the Song Writes You. This time around the singer turns out a dry-throated reading of Van Zandt's graceful "If I Needed You.," Not one to parrot anybody, Clark makes the song his own. "The Coat,," one of many standout tracks on the disc, is a simple reflection on a bad morning -- that comes after a night of drinking and no sleep -- and turns into an even worse day when rain and cold threaten to muddy the main character's mind even more than it already is. Somedays the Song Writes You is another choice album from one of the greatest songwriters to ever come out of the state of Texas. ~ Todd Sterling Somedays The Song Writes You Music Guy Clark Somedays The Song Writes You Songs Somedays The Song Writes You Review

Somedays The Song Writes You
$11.39 Most songs of 'A bumpy ride', the second album of the Dutch singer/ songwriter Sleepy Joe Tomato, were recorded in the summer of 1995, in the small 16-track studio of the producer/musician Scott Mathews in San Francisco. It took Scott and SJT about two weeks to record and mix the album. On some tracks it's just Scott and SJT playing all the instruments (for example 'She turned into a stranger', 'Love on the side' and 'Just in time'). Scott is an amazing drummer, who played on a lot of records (The Beach Boys, John Lee Hooker, John Hiatt) but he is also a fine bassplayer, keyboard player and guitarist (and ...

Somedays The Song Writes You
$10.15 About SHE LIKES TODDThe Complete History of Todd, AbridgedThe city of Chicago casts a long shadow on the suburbs. From this shadow emerges four over-fed, beer-chugging rockers who could totally kick your ass in a pillow fight. She Likes Todd has been a band now for a long time, but only started getting good somewhere within the last few weeks. After releasing like a Brazilian shitty CDs, She Likes Todd finally wrote the disasterpiece, \"Falling Much Too Fast.\" This was their first full length that really rocked any faces. Following moderate local success and the band\'s first plunge into rock travel, She Likes Todd quickly decided to beat the tunes like dead horses. After 2-years, SLT was finally prodded to record some new music. Harnessing their unrivaled powers of laziness, the band sought fit to write only half of an album for a 2007 split with Rule 22 [who also suck] for the aptly titled \"Lifestyles of the Poor and Fameless.\" In a staggering stroke of sloth, the band brought on an additional member to further differ fiscal and creative responsibility. Hastily prepared by narrow margin, both bands quickly fled west under the guise of \"touring;\" merely an excuse to bring rock to these fine United States.Currently on downtime from the shafts of life, She Likes Todd is in the process of creating ...
