| | Mack 10 Soft White CD Mack 10 Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Audio Mixer: Dave Pensado. Photographer: Devin Dehaven. Near halfway through SOFT WHITE, his ninth record, Mack 10 drops the slick, `80s soul-jazz hearkening, smooth ballad "Hood Famous." It's both a catchy track and an apt summation of the Cali MC's place in the hip-hop world come 2009 - a legend of the West Coast Rap universe who's still unknown to the masses. Mack 10's got the usual balance of the street-hard playa jams ("Big Balla") and inspirational appeals to the kids ("It's Your Life"), but both sides of the ledger boast tremendous hooks and Mack 10's expert storytelling style. Freed from the major-label grind by the 2007 compilation Foe Life: The Best of Mack 10, the 2009 release Soft White is Mack 10's indie debut, although with names like Akon and Rick Ross on the guest list, it is hardly a return to the underground. That's fine, since highly polished gangsta numbers like the Akon vehicle "Clack Clack" -- produced by Green Lantern -- or the Ross and Lil Wayne cut "So Sharp" -- a Don Vito creation -- suit this veteran rapper who achieved Don status yeas ago. "I see the world through Prada when I'm looking through my lenses/And panoramic roofs in all of Benz's" he declares on the key track "Mirror Mirror," doing the usual bravado and boast before transitioning into grown man's business, which in this case, is Mack 10's bitter divorce from TLC member T-Boz. His maturity also shines on the great "It's You Life," a recipe for success on wax that's designed to teach the youth respect and patience with neo-soul crooner Anthony Hamilton. Shame the original street version of "So Sharp" with Jim Jones had to be scraped due to rights issues, but the rest of Soft White is well above satisfying and often more thoughtful than expected. ~ David Jeffries Purchase Soft White CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Greatest Videos DVD (2004)

Cooper, Troy Taylor (background vocals); Static Major (vocals, background vocals); Pleasure (keyboards, background vocals); Diamond, Slick , Spectacular. Photographer: Jonathan Mannion. Arrangers: Static Major; Diamond "Baby Blue" Smith; Damon Eden. Pretty Ricky, a quartet of related young men who could be filed under R&B or rap, fly so over the top that they can no longer see the top. They're the kind of guys your mother wouldn't think to warn you about. That's how outrageous they are, fitting somewhere between Usher and the Ying Yang Twins at their most lecherous, but they're not nearly ...
| | Chamillionaire Sound Of Revenge CD (2005) Parental Advisory
Soft White
$13.19 Personnel: Chamillionaire (rap vocals); Killer Mike, Krayzie Bone, Lil Wayne, Pastor Troy, Rasaq, Scarface, Lil' Flip, Natalie , Bun B (rap vocals). With THE SOUND OF REVENGE, Chamillionaire's 2005 Universal debut, the Houston-based rapper makes the most of his major-label deal, which includes his own Chamillitary imprint. On SOR, Paul Wall's former collaborator amps up that duo's signature chopped-and-screwed mixtape sound with heavy-duty arrangements that expertly showcase Chamillionaire's deep, husky voice. The introductory title track is marked by machine-gun beats, and establishes the album's fierce, restless mood. But the disc's highlight is the utterly infectious single "Turn It Up," which boasts Scott Storch's distinctive chiming production and an appearance by Lil' Flip. Although fellow Texan Bun-B, Krayzie Bone, and others also show up, REVENGE doesn't rely on guest shots; ...
| | Plies Real Testament CD (2007)
Soft White
$10.39 Representing Fort Myers, Florida, the up-and-coming rapper known as Plies first made noise by penning the Snoop/Akon hit, "I Wanna Love You." After the unbridled success of his first single, "Shawty," Plies was geared up to drop a full-length of his own. With a molasses-thick Dirty South accent and a gang of stress on his chest, Plies rips it over neck-snapping tracks by Midnight Black, Papa Duck, Gold Ru$h, Jonathan Rotem, Hen & Ro, Hall of Tunez Inc., and the Beat Eaters on his debut release, THE REAL TESTAMENT. Akon, T-Pain, ...

| | Themes - Best Of Vangelis CD (1989)
Soft White
$7.19 Recording information: Nemo STudios, London, England. Photographer: Stathis Zalidis. Arranger: Vangelis. Themes is one of the most entertaining and thorough of any of Vangelis' collections, with excerpts spanning such albums as Opera Sauvage, China, and the ever-popular Chariots of Fire release from 1981. Most of the selections from Themes speak for Vangelis' movie contributions, including the infamous "Chariots of Fire" track as well as the lonesome-sounding theme from Missing and the powerful openings from Mutiny on the Bounty. With this music, Vangelis has implemented some variations in rhythm and some noticeable fluctuation in his synthesizer work, making these tracks much more colorful and animated than his new age meanderings ...

| | Slug Trap Paganotti Borghi CD (2009)
Soft White
$15.89 Personnel: SLuG (programming). Audio Mixer: SLuG. This is a surprising album, not so much for the music it offers than for the people responsible. SluG is a trio consisting of guitarist Thomas Lucas (under his solo persona John Trap), and two ex-members of zeuhl juggernaut Magma: singer Himiko Paganotti and keyboardist Emmanuel Borghi. Let it be said up front: personnel aside, SluG has nothing to do with Magma, and you will be sorely disappointed if you approach this album on those grounds. Speed and Joy is an odd electro-pop ...
