Personnel: Benjamin Burnley (vocals, guitar); Aaron Fink (guitar); Chad Szeliga (drums). Audio Mixers: Dan Korneff; David Bendeth. Photographer: Florian Schneider. Arrangers: Benjamin Burnley; David Bendeth. Breaking Benjamin's fourth foray into the crowded waters of early 21st century alternative metal/post-grunge feels a lot like their first three. That's good news for longtime fans of the brooding Pennsylvania quartet, who pound each of the 11 tracks on DEAR AGONY into submission like seasoned strongmen at a country carnival. Front-loaded with the singles "Fade Away" and "I Will Not Bow" (the latter was featured in the murky Bruce Willis sci-fi film Surrogates), DEAR AGONY feels like a well-oiled machine, and producer David Bendeth, whose immaculate touch helped 2006's PHOBIA sell 131,000 copies in its first week, conjures much of the same magic here. IT'S BEEN TOO LONG SINCE B.B. HAS PUT OUT A NEW CD SO HERE IT IS AND I REALLY LIKE IT. BUT COULD IT BE BETTER THAN "PHOBIA"? I DON'T REALLY THINK SO. HOW COULD THEY BEAT ONE OF THE GREATEST ALTERNATIVE ROCK SONGS THEY EVER HAD IN "DIARY OF JANE"? I STILL THINK THIS IS A GOOD EFFORT BY B.B. AND I HAVE LISTENED TO IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH TWICE AND IT'S REALLY A GOOD LISTEN. CHECK IT OUT. Submitted by MICHAELCBAREFOOT (FOUR OAKS,N.C.,U.S.A.) Was This Review Helpful? Not bad This cd is better taken like medicine; in doses. Each song has good lyrics and a nice sound, but if you listen to more than a few in a row they start to sound the same. I'd advise burning them into mix cds with other music to keep the sound fresh. Standout songs are I will Not Bow, Crawl, and Hopeless. Submitted by Josh G. (Rock Hill, SC) Was This Review Helpful? Unique again Although I have only had limited time to review the songs, my first impression is that Breaking Benjamin has brought a different sound approach to each one of their CD's thus far, and Dear Agony is no different. This CD is a little more melodic than the previous albums, but does not leave the sound that made them who they are. I am still waiting on the all out heavy Breaking Benjamin CD, but this will most definitly keep me happy until then. It's a must for rock fans. New different sound! Cool, rocks! First, i gonna say this BB4 is pretty awesome.... There's a new level of BB each compare of 3 previous album and 1 latest album..... rock on..dude! Submitted by Melvin (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Excellent Once again Breaking Benjamin delivers a great album! Softer than previous outings, but still has good amount of bite to it! Lead off single I Will Not Bow does not disapoint for a harder edge, and the song Anthem of the Angels with it's orchestral parts is wonderful. This is now my second favorite BB CD [Phobia is still their best one for me]. Submitted by Luna (Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.89 Audio Mixer: Brian Virtue . Recording information: Modernist Movement, Nashville, TN. Photographers: Mark Samuels; Mark Samuels; Jerad Knudson. Chevelle's SCI-FI CRIMES, the hard rock trio's fifth album, isn't so much a change of pace as it is a change in source material from which to draw the group's fiercely dynamic sound. Experiences in the lives of the band made it easy for lead man Pete Loeffler to boldly go in a new direction with his songwriting. Take "Highland's Apparition," ...
