The magical story of Forrest Gump, a sweet-natured idiot savant from rural Alabama. As he goes down the road of life, mouthing pithy and quotable homilies, he encounters luminaries such as John Lennon, Elvis Presley and JFK. But all the while he can't forget one special girl from his childhood...

The title character leads viewers through an accidental travelogue of American social history from the early 1960s through the present in this revisionist fable. Vietnam, desegregation, Watergate, and more are presented from the perspective of Tom Hanks's loveably slow-witted Forrest Gump as he finds himself embroiled in situations he can't quite comprehend. Hanks leads an excellent cast, featuring Robin Wright Penn as Jenny, Forrest's lifelong love; Gary Sinise as the irascible Lt. Dan, his Vietnam superior; Mykelti Williamson as Bubba, a shrimp-loving soldier; and Sally Fields as his devoted mother. Robert Zemeckis's emotional, heartwarming film garnered 13 Academy Award nominations and six wins, including Best Picture, Director, Actor--Tom Hanks, and Adapted Screenplay.

Theatrical release: July 6, 1994. FORREST GUMP made more than $325 million at the domestic box office and more than $675 million worldwide. The famous, oft-quoted line said by Forrest Gump in the film: "Life is like a box of chocolates," is a total reworking of the original line in the novel which reads: "Let me say this: bein' an idiot is no box of chocolates." "To make Sinise appear to be a double amputee, the filmmakers relied on a combination of computer artistry, a trick wheelchair that hid Sinise's legs from the knees down and a limber actor... Sinise did suffer a minor leg injury while making 'Gump,' ironically during a scene in which Forrest (Tom Hanks) carries him out of the Vietnam jungle. 'My inner thigh kept bouncing on his shoulder. It was like taking a jackhammer to it,' says Sinise. 'I developed a huge contusion and couldn't bend my leg to get into the wheelchair.'" -- USA TODAY, July 7, 1994

Forrest Gump Quotes/Excerpts:

5 stars Pure genius.
I don't want to sound corny, but the first time one sees this can only be described as magical. I really can't give it the credit it deserves with just words. It makes you think, it has a great storyline... and it humbles a man. You watch it and you feel like you've just taken a bite out of life, and as though you can do anything you put your mind to. Great story, worth being watched by everyone.

After PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and ATONEMENT, Keira Knightley continues her reign as the queen of the period film with this 18th-century costume drama. The corset-clad actress stars as Georgiana Spenser, the Duchess of Devonshire. With her marriage to the duke (Ralph Fiennes), Georgiana achieves an impressive level of fame as Britons follow both her clothing style and her political advice. But even celebrity and wealth can't act as a salve in her marriage to the boring, boorish duke. When he begins to flaunt his affairs, Georgiana is tempted to return to a teenage crush, Charles Grey (Dominic Cooper of THE HISTORY BOYS), to the anger of her husband and her mother (Charlotte Rampling, SWIMMING POOL). Fiennes's portrayal of the duke ranks roughly with his Lord Voldemort on a scale of beastly behavior, but the acclaimed actor manages to give him a level of humanity that far surpasses what he deserves. THE DUCHESS focuses on the lack of power possessed by Georgiana and, in fact, all women of her time, and the duke is the primary agent of her suppression. As she has done with other period films from the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series to KING ARTHUR, Knightley brings spirit to the role, as well as a regal carriage that perfectly fits the detailed costumes by Michael O'Connor. Fans of history-based drama--Georgiana was real-life royalty who is found in the genealogy of Princess Diana--will find much to like in this film, which boasts impressive locations, lush costumes, and forbidden love. Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes star in this $13 million-grossing movie about the Duchess of Devonshire, who marries into one of Britain's most powerful families. Extras include featurettes and costume diary.

What if NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and FAST FOOD NATION were ground together in the bowels of a meat grinder? Find out in this awesomely disgusting--and disgustingly awesome--satire from director Lloyd Kaufman (THE TOXIC AVENGER). When a fast food chain builds a restaurant on an Indian burial ground, people begin to die in disgusting ways that would only happen in a Troma film. Meanwhile, a man named Arbie (Jason Yachanin) is trying to win back his ex-girlfriend Wendy (Kate Graham). But his new employment at the American Chicken Bunker restaurant, Wendy's new girlfriend Micki (Allyson Sereboff), and evil chicken spirits threaten to ruin his plans. Beginning just hours after the original HELLRAISER ended, HELLBOUND finds young Kristy (Laurence) waking up in a mental institution because she insisted on describing her parents murderers as pain-loving demons from hell to the authorities. Unfortunately, she has been placed in the car of Dr. Channard, who has devoted his life to solving the Lament Configuration, the key to the doorway of hell, and now, with Kristy, he believes he has found another key. Resuscitating the skinless corpse of her stepmother, Julia, Dr. Channard succeeds in opening a doorway to hell, one that Julia, Channard, Kristy, and her mute friend Tiffany all travel through. Based on a story by Clive Barker, HELLBOUND is both a continuation of the original as well as a much different take on its story and universe. Here, the film fashions itself after an ALICE IN WONDERLAND type fairy tale as it focuses on Kristy and Tiffany's adventures in hell as well as on the lives of the Cenobites. Infamously gory, surreal, and often horrifying, HELLBOUND is a satisfying sequel to one of the most original horror films of the 1980s. In 1988, it emerged as the shocking follow-up to the film that redefined the face of horror. Two decades later, it remains one of the most brutally original sequels in horror film history. Relive the nightmare of pleasure and pain as the puzzle box unleashes the depraved hunger of the Cenobites, the unholy birth of the Leviathan Configuration and even the horrific origin of Pinhead (Doug Bradley), Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, and Kenneth Cranham co-star in this hit sequel from executive producer Clive Barker that experiences the flesh like no other.

The official soundtrack to the 2009 hit comic book movie is not your typical collection of hard-and-heavy rock anthems and hip-hop party songs. With the exception of My Chemical Romance's amped-up cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row," it is a sobering blend of standards from days past. Complementing the somber mood and flashback sequences throughout the film, songs like Dylan's "The Times They Are A'Changin'" and Billie Holiday's "You're My Thrill" recall several eras' worth of simpler values and/or affairs. Nat King Cole's classic "Unforgettable" juxtaposes that song's soulful sentiment with a hero's demise. Elsewhere on the soundtrack, the Philip Glass Ensemble's "Pruit Igoe & Prophecies" and Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" echo Tyler Bates's foreboding, apocalyptic original score. Limited edition twelve inch vinyl picture disc pressing of this single, My Chemical Romance's powerful cover of Bob Dylan's 'Desolation Row,' recorded exclusively for the feature film Watchmen. The B-side is 'Prison Fight,' taken from 'Watchmen: Original Motion Picture Score', composed by Tyler Bates. Warner. 2009.

Two-time Oscar winner Hillary Swank tries her hand at romantic comedy in this touching film based on the bestselling Irish novel. Holly Kennedy (Swank) and her charming Irish husband Gerry (Gerard Butler) are a young couple struggling to get by in New York City. Their marriage is 10 years strong, and they are madly in love, but the fates soon step in, when Gerry develops cancer and dies. Holly is completely devastated, and her friends Denise (Lisa Kudrow) and Sharon (Gina Gershon) do their best to console her. Her mother (Kathy Bates) and sister, Rose (Nellie Mckay), also offer their support, but it seems nothing can pull Holly out of her grief. Then one day, she begins to receive love letters Gerry penned before his death. The letters are filled with various stories and instructions, and one of them even contains a plan that sends her and her friends on a trip to Ireland. As Gerry's posthumous letters buoy her up, Holly slowly begins to piece her life back together. His letters help her to celebrate their special love story, and remind her that she must continue to live her life, and seek out happiness. The film's stellar cast delivers many tearjerker moments, and P.S. I LOVE YOU does a fine job of yanking on the heartstrings. However, the tone often shifts so abruptly, it at times feels as though they couldn't quite decide if Holly was a steel magnolia, a Bridget with a diary, or a devil in search of some Prada. But the strong performances manage to hold the tale together, and the story is ultimately moving, and yes, romantic. Widescreen; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Blue Ray HD-DVD
