We are taught to view ourselves and the world in black and white. To deny aspects of ourselves. This creates a discord of heart and mind. We forget who we are. We forget how similar we are. We analyze instead of experience. We think instead of feel. We no longer live. We simply exist. To be alive we must cast aside thoughts and beliefs that would constrain our hearts and minds. Remember what it means to be human; what it is to be alive. With every effort, impurfekt strives to embody this philosophy. To awaken what's inside. To ever be a reflection of the human state.Impurfekt was born in 2008 out of a passion for dark, electronic music. It is most influenced by early works of such artists as Velvet Acid Christ, In Strict Confidence, and :Wumpscut:. Its author, Aaron Russell, also maintains a love for film and game music by composers such as Michael Kamen, James Horner, Akira Yamaoka, Nobuo Uematsu and others. In addition, he enjoys trip hop acts such as Massive Attack and ambient artists such as The Future Sound of London. The result of these influences is dark, beautiful, complex music inspired by the human state. Human
$11.49 Named for a town near Bristol, England, Portishead is a British dance band that grabs ideas from all over the mod pop world (spaghetti Western guitars, turntable scratching, melancholy soul vocals, atmospheric organs, house beats) and stirs them into spacey, dub-like productions that sound like a dance club in the middle of a "Twin Peaks" dream. You could call it surreal hip-hop pop. But if the beats on the band's debut album achieve a kind of trance-like static, the songs themselves reach for something more rousing. With understated lyrics and overstated melodies, singer Beth Gibbons and bandleader Geoff Barrow write insinuatingly melancholy dance ballads that ebb and flow like waves through rustling waters. Organs quaver in quiet tremolos, guitars emit squiggles and turntables hiccup, while Gibbons, in a high, ...
| | Portishead Third CD (2008)
Human
$11.99 More than a decade after its self-titled sophomore outing, the pioneering British electronica ensemble Portishead finally resurfaced with 2008's THIRD, an album that both meets and defies expectations. Although the record features many of the group's aural signatures--most notably that exquisitely dark, cinematic mood and Beth Gibbons's heartbreaking vocals--it presents little in the way of vintage trip-hop, proving that sonic masterminds Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley aren't keen on repeating themselves. "Silence" kicks off the affair with tumbling percussion loops, while ...
| | Amethystium Odonata CD (2001)
Human
$12.75 This is the debut album from Amethystium which received a groundswell of support from online listeners, to the tune of a half million downloads before its official release. The album is attributed to Oystein Ramfjord, a composer from Norway who makes ambient electronic music full of mystifying ...
| | Thievery Corporation Cosmic Game CD (2005)
Human
$12.55 Washington, DC-based sophisticates Thievery Corporation (producers Rob Garza and Eric Hilton) made several albums of superb down-tempo electronica prior to THE COSMIC GAME, and each release refined the duo's sensuous blend of deep, head-nodding beats, exotic world-music melodies, and lounge-ready atmospherics. This 2005 record builds on the strengths of the Corporation's previous albums, offering more stylish, club-targeted soundscapes to excellent effect. The series of all-star guests that parades through the album raises the Corporation's profile even higher.
The Flaming Lips contribute additional instruments and vocals to the dreamy opener "Marching the Hate Machines (Into the Sun)," while the trip-hop-flavored "Revolution Solution" features Perry Farrell on vocals. Indian themes surface with vocalist Gunjan and sitar player Arjuna Pashwami on "Satyam Shivam Sundaram," and Verny Varela's singing gives the crowning touch to the bossa nova track ...

| | Kitaro Best Of Ten Years 1976-86 (20 Bit Master) CDs (1997) 1976-1986
Human
$18.19 Kitaro has long been one of the linchpins of new age music, and his sizable discography might prove intimidating to newcomers. For that reason, BEST OF TEN YEARS 1976-1986 is a great place for the uninitiated to start. Over two discs and 18 tracks, BEST OF TEN YEARS provides an excellent overview of Kitaro's art, which centers on soothing, symphonic landscapes generated primarily by synthesizer.
Many of Kitaro's best and best-known albums--KI, OASIS, and the SILK ROAD series among them--were released in the first decade of his career, and highlights from those albums are included here. Kitaro's devoted international fanbase hold fast to the notion that his music is deeply spiritual, transcendent, and transformative, and a listen through the moving compositions ...
