YOURS, MINE, AND OURS was recorded by the Pernice Brothers in the shadow of 9/11, huddled up in a canopied cabin in 2002 Vermont. However, the result was far from a dark, brooding record. YOURS, MINE, AND OURS, if still introspective, is the band's most lush and upbeat offering. Even on the most melancholy of tracks, such as "Baby in Two," the feel is more elegiac, even dreamlike and inspiring, than depressing. That track gives way to the symphonic lullaby of "Blinded By the Stars," followed by the driving "Waiting for the Universe," and so on. Joe Pernice stated he sought to rediscover "the joy in things and hanging onto them for dear life," and to that end it succeeds and grandly.
