Widescreen; Soundtrack English; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re; Import; Blue Ray HD-DVD Director Kurt Wimmer (ULTRAVIOLET) injects style into this sci-fi/action film that channels the visual energy of THE MATRIX and invokes the politics of BRAVE NEW WORLD. In a futuristic society where the government requires citizens to stay tranquil and submissive by taking a psychological drug, people no longer have emotions. Because of this, there are no more wars, but there is also no literature, music, or art of any kind. But when an enforcement agent (Christian Bale, THE DARK KNIGHT) realizes that peaceful oblivion may not be the answer, he thinks about overthrowing his oppressors. EQUILIBRIUM’s cast also includes Sean Bean (THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING), Taye Diggs (CHICAGO), William Fichtner (PRISON BREAK), and Emily Watson (RED DRAGON). Theatrical release: December 6, 2002 (Limited) Equilibrium Reviews: "...Wimmer shows flair with his overheated visual style..."-- Andy Richards, Sight and Sound "...Some of it is conceptually inventive, and the action scenes are interesting..."

Equilibrium Movie Review Absolutely amazing!! This movie is way ahead of its time. The fight choreography in it is cutting edge. The story neither drags nor is confusing. The acting is not Oscar material but it is very good for this type of movie. One should watch this movie for the fight sequences alone, they are some the most creative sequences I have ever seen on film. Overall, a very good movie! ***** Submitted by l_lautard73 (Kelowna, B.C. Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Awsome Sci-Fi! Great plot, perfect actors. If you like Sci-Fi, you will love this movie :) It seems to be a cross between "1984", "Fahrenheit 451" and "The Wizard of Oz". Great eye candy and a thrilling gun Kata. Submitted by a reviewer (Indiana) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

THANK YOU ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY...... I WOULD NEVER HAVE KNOWN A THING ABOUT THIS MOVIE IF I HADN'T BEEN THUMBING THROUGH AN ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY MAGAZINE. I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE VIDEO STORE TO RENT IT AND MAN I WAS TOTALLY HOOKED! I TRIED TO BUY THIS MOVIE IMMEDIATELY AFTER WATCHING IT A FEW TIMES AND IT WAS TOO LATE. WORD OF MOUTH SPEAD AND IT FLEW OFF THE SHELVES AT THE W.M. THAT I WORK AT. IT WAS AT LEAST 2 OR 3 WEEKS BEFORE I COULD BUY THIS MOVIE. THIS MOVIE WAS PURE GENIUS. THE PLOT WAS GOOD AND TO ME IT WAS AS GOOD AS THE MATRIX. I LOVED HOW IT WAS MORE REALISTIC THAN THE MATRIX. I LOVED THE STORY AND YES I LOVED THE "GUN KATAS" AND THE GUN BATTLES. I THOUGHT THE CREATIVITY THAT WENT INTO MAKING THE GUN KATAS WAS INGENIUS. THE STORY MADE YOU THINK AND SAY TO YOURSELF THAT THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE REAL IN 10 OR 20 YEARS. IF YOU THINK THAT'S STRETCHING THINGS A BIT JUST THINK ABOUT AND LOOK AT THE STATE OF THE WORLD TODAY. BUT SERIOUSLY IT'S A KICK A** ACTION MOVIE AND SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES THAT I HAVE RENTED AND OWNED IN A LONG TIME. THIS MOVIE IN SHORT HAS A DUNE/MATRIX/FAHRENHEIT 451 FEEL TO IT WITH THE COOL DARK SURROUNDINGS. IT'S THE THINKING MANS ACTION MOVIE.....I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT. Equilibrium review
$9.85 In director Wolfgang Petersen's charming fantasy, Bastian (Barrett Oliver), a lonely schoolboy alienated from his father and bullied by his classmates, retreats to an attic where he becomes engrossed in a book entitled THE NEVERENDING STORY. It is the tale of a magical kingdom appropriately named Fantasia, since it is a world born of human fantasies. However, as humanity loses faith in the power of imagination, the once-thriving Fantasia is being destroyed by great storms of Nothingness. Dangerously ill herself, Fantasia's youthful empress (Tami Stronach) sends the young warrior Atreju (Noah Hathaway) on a quest to find a cure for the kingdom. After encountering flying dragons, swamp monsters and a vast assortment of other strange creatures, the young hero discovers that only a human boy can save Fantasia, at ...

| | Igor Blu-ray (2008) Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled; DTS Sound
Equilibrium DVD
$23.39 In the 2008 computer-animated comedy IGOR, John Cusack provides the voice for the title character, one of many "Igors," whose sole purpose in life is to assist mad scientists in their diabolical experiments with a dutiful and mindless "Yes, master." When Cusack's bright, determined Igor strikes out on his own and creates the Frankenstein's-monster-like Eva (Molly Shannon), aided by a resurrected rabbit named Scamper (Steve Buscemi) and a mislabeled talking brain named Brian (Sean Hayes), his efforts incur the wrath of the winkingly monikered Dr. Schadenfreude (Eddie Izzard), who is set on putting Igor back in his henchman slot of the horror hierarchy.
Directed by Tony Leonidas (LILO & STITCH 2: STITCH HAS A GLITCH), IGOR takes many of its macabre cues from horror-comedy classics THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, mixing monster-movie elements with moments of clever humor and generous amounts of slapstick. Although there are dark undercurrents in IGOR (see Buscemi's sarcastic, suicidal hare), the film generally sticks to a family-friendly misfit-makes-good theme, keeping it in the quirky vein of fellow CG-animation movies such as THE CORPSE BRIDE and MONSTERS, INC. While the cast is impressive ...

$28.08 Science-fiction films are usually big-budget blockbusters more concerned with special effects than with character, but MOON goes the indie route, using a five-million-dollar budget to create a thought-provoking film. First-time feature director Duncan Jones wrote the part of Sam Bell, a miner living in isolation on the moon, with CHOKE’s Sam Rockwell in mind, and it’s perfect casting. MOON begins when Sam’s three-year contract with Lunar Industries is almost up, and it isn’t soon enough for the isolated man. Communication is down, and he is only able to send and receive prerecorded messages home, so he has had no real-time contact with his wife and daughter. An accident in a lunar rover leaves Sam stranded, but he wakes up back in the station, where he encounters someone who looks exactly like him, just a little younger. With the help of the base’s robot, Gerty (voiced by Kevin Spacey), Sam tries to uncover what lies beneath the gleaming surface of the base.
Production designer Tony Noble has created a cold, utilitarian set for MOON, reminiscent of sci-fi classics such as 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and ALIEN. The minimalist surroundings and small number of special effects allow Rockwell’s strong performance to shine in what is essentially a one-man film. There are very few shots without Rockwell’s presence, and he is adept at communicating the Sams’ variety of emotions. Rockwell is undeniably the center of the ...
