Got exactly what I ordered I thought this album was out of print and I'm so happy to have received a great CD. By bubbah.2 (New York)
As if She Never Left Once you hear Ms Wilson, you realize what a great song stylist she is. This album allowed her to prove that she is one of the great voices that have come along. By pappadaddy2 (Irving, TX, USA)
Good mix of songs Nancy Wilson shows what a talented performer she is with this mix of gently swinging songs. I prefer it when she sings softly rather than when she lets rip because it reveals a hardness in her voice which is not quite so pleasant. By brianco27 (Yeovil, Somerset, England)

Herb Alpert / Tijuana Brass Whipped Cream & Other Delights CD (1965) Top Seller
How Glad I Am/Gentle Is My Mind songs How a good-looking Jewish boy from Brooklyn discovered the secret of success in an updated form of mariachi music is perhaps beyond our scope. Then again, it might not be such a mystery after all. Aside from the obvious example of exotica, much easy listening depends upon more than a touch of ethnicity to maintain its musical roots. What Herb Alpert found in Mexican street bands was a previously untapped source of south-of-the-border melody and rhythm. With its unlikely combination of Alpert's cool Chet Baker-like trumpet and the blocky cadences of a marching band, the Tijuana Brass produced a lively, colorful mix that managed to appeal to hips and squares alike.
WHIPPED CREAM & OTHER DELIGHTS was Herb Albert's most successful album, helped--no doubt--by its highly provocative cover art. The tunes are mostly unknown originals or, in the case of Lieber & Stoller's "Love Potion #9," so transformed by the Tijuana "treatment" as to be almost unrecognizable. Special mention must go to guitarist John Pisano and marimba man Julius Wechter, both of whom round out the sharp corners of a potentially ...

Guess Who I Saw Today: Songs of Lost Love CD (2005) Top Seller
How Glad I Am/Gentle Is My Mind buy CD music The title track here--a certifiable vocal jazz classic which finds Nancy Wilson unfurling the narrative of Grand and Boyd's composition with exquisite sensitivity and heartbreaking nuance--is alone worth the price of the album. But with songs like "When Sunny Gets Blue" and the conversational, melancholic "You Can Have Him," the rest of the collection is a winner from start to finish. Wilson is backed by combos (which feature musicians like George Shearing, Cannonball Adderley, and Joe Zawinul) and orchestras (arranged and conducted by the likes of Oliver Nelson and Billy May), but it is her voice and her peerless delivery that captivate and thrill.

R.S.V.P. (Rare Songs, Very Personal) CD (2004)
How Glad I Am/Gentle Is My Mind album for sale The sultry "An Older Man Is Like an Elegant Wine," for example, shows that she has lost none of her sumptuous, ballad-perfect timbre, but the bop-inflected ease of her phrases on "Day In, Day Out" remind us that her up-tempo exuberance is still jumping, too. A string of all-star guests--George Shearing, Toots Thielemans, Phil Woods, and Gary Burton, among others--make the collection sparkle even brighter, and her duets with R&B stars Kenny Lattimore and Ivan Lins may win converts from a younger generation. But as the note-perfect "Blame It on My Youth" announces, this is Wilson's show, and a fine, memorable one at that.
Even given her dalliances with R&B and pop material during her long career, Nancy Wilson is unquestionably one of the legends of vocal jazz. R.S.V.P. (which here stands for "Rare Songs, Very Personal") finds Wilson coming home to roost with 12 songs that showcase her superb vocal stylings in the mode of classic swing and jazz balladry. For 2004's R.S.V.P., Wilson selected tunes she'd never had the opportunity to record in her 50 years in the business. One would never guess from these performances, however--Wilson sings these songs as though they were born in her throat.
Personnel: Nancy Wilson (vocals); Ivan Lins, Kenny Lattimore (vocals); Joe Negri (guitar); Toots Thielemans (harmonica); Paquito d'Rivera (clarinet); Phil Woods (alto saxophone); Andy Snitzer (tenor saxophone); Bill Watrous (trombone); George Shearing (piano); Gary Burton (vibraphone); Rufus Reid (bass guitar).

Turned to Blue CD (2006)
How Glad I Am/Gentle Is My Mind CD music That diva Nancy Wilson was still going strong in the early 2000s, some 40 years after her heyday in the mid 1960s, is a testament to both the appeal of her music and the unassailable worth of her talent. Wilson's voice is expectedly weathered on 2006's TURNED TO BLUE, and she leans more toward adult contemporary pop than the jazz of her early career, but these changes matter little given the singer's stirring performances. The set list is comprised mostly of ballads, with a few twists (the Maya Angelou poem in the title track), and standards ("I'll Be Seeing You") thrown in for good measure. A host of top-shelf instrumentalists bring added sparkle to a stylish, classy outing from this vocal legend.
Personnel: Nancy Wilson (vocals); Hubert Laws (flute); James Moody , Andy Snitzer, Tom Scott, Bob Mintzer (tenor saxophone); Rufus Reid (upright bass).

Hollywood: My Way CD (1963)
How Glad I Am/Gentle Is My Mind buy CD music Like one of her biggest selling CDs Yesterdays Love Songs/Tomorrow's Blues, Hollywood My Way is filled with strong material, fine arrangements, and more than enough evidence of Wilson's considerable and elegant vocal talents. One thing the Hollywood My Way doesn't have, though, is a big hit like Yesterday's Love Song's "Guess Who I Saw Today" and that goes a long way in explaining Capitol's reticence about releasing it. Regardless, this collection of movie songs ranging from 1931's "When Did You Leave Heaven" to 1962's "Days of Wine and Roses" with stellar Jimmy Jones' arrangements is one of Wilson's best. As usual she deftly works through a variety of tempi with aplomb. "My Shining Hours"' breakneck speed arrangement is kept in check by her behind-the-beat, elongated phrasing, while the ballad tempo in "Days of Wine of Roses" is ignited with an assured and dramatic vocal buildup. Wilson's supple voice seems especially fit for the bossa nova treatment of "Moonriver"; she easily shifts from a whisper to full-throated dynamics over the lilting, yet steady beat. Equally impressive is her urbane blues delivery on "When Did You Leave Heaven." [The 2006 CD reissue added five bonus tracks.] ~ Stephen Cook
