Maddox Brothers & Rose Most Colorful Hillbilly Band in America CDs (1998)
Other People's Love Songs The Maddox Brothers & Rose belong in that upper echelon of performers whose contributions shaped country music for the ages. The difference is that the Maddox Brothers & Rose have not been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, never charted a national hit, and are far from being household names. The artists who credit their influence include Merle Haggard and Dolly Parton, to name only a couple. Their outrageous appearance (they popularized the garish Nudie suits that would later become the uniform of country stars), risqué material, and crazed performances punctuated by brother Cal's maniacal cackle made the group one of the most exciting and innovative acts of its time. They were rockabilly before such a thing existed, and Rose Maddox's brash, assertive style opened up new possibilities for women in country music beyond Patsy Montana's comparatively demure cowgirl image. The Most Colorful Hillbilly Band in America collects on four discs the group's complete Columbia recordings, plus early solo recordings by Rose, the Rosie & Rhetta singles, and a few stunning sides by the Maddox Brothers alone. There are many classic performances, from intense readings of sacred songs to hillbilly rock & roll to wild revisionist covers of current hits. The band's loose, energetic playing and surreal sense of humor make for some of the most awe-inspiring music of its era. This is the first legitimate release of this material on CD, and certainly the most complete anthology of the band's studio recordings ever assembled. Damn the charts -- if you want to know about '50s country, this box set belongs in your collection. ~ Greg Adams

Sacred & Profane A Chamber Chorus. Pictures Of Kodaly CD (2010)
Other People's Love Songs Although less renowned as a composer than his colleague and frien Bela Bartok, Zoltan Kodaly (1882-1967) was perhaps the finest exponent of the compositional paradigm of grounding classical music firmly in folk tradition. Western culture discovered his music belatedly, but early in the XXth Century Kodaly searched for links between Hungarian, Slovakian, Romanian and Bulgarian folk melodies and the western European music culture and tradition, displaying those connections and interactions to his audience. Jesus es a Kufarok seems to encapsulate the Catholic expressive faith from a Hungarian perspective. Oregek underlines one of the most universal limits, the final stages of everybody's life. Matrai Kepek, composeed in 1931 is an astonishingly beautiful and engaging description of provincial life. Missa Breves, evocative at once of both Western and Eastern traditions, elicits emotions both transcendental and basic while providing elaborate grist for the most refined intellectual pleasure. The music is sung in its original language, Hungarian and Latin.

Monique Dimattina Senses CD (2008)
Other People's Love Songs SENSES is a collection of solo piano dreams and improvisations composed and performed by Australian pianist Monique diMattina.
\"You need not leave your room.
Remain sitting at your table and listen. You need not even listen, simply wait.
You need not even wait, just learn to become quiet, and still, and solitary.
The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked.
It has no choice; it will roll in ecstasy at your feet\"- Franz Kafka \'Senses\'
Sounds like?Lili Boulanger, Philip Glass, Gabriel Faure, Keith Jarrett, the silent sea, the quiet of being.
Composed?By Monique.
What for?To feel peaceful and awake, clear and clean.
Who is Monique?Reflecting influences spanning Bach through early New Orleans Jazz, Blues/Roots, Singer-Songwriter land, French Impressionism and silence, Monique diMattina\'s music has been heard at Jazz clubs and festivals all over Australia, New York, Europe and Asia.
While at high school in Melbourne Australia, Monique filled her mathematics timetable with music lessons in piano, Irish harp, clarinet, saxophone, bass and drumkit.
After a B.
Mus and B.
Litt at the University of Melbourne, diMattina was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to complete her Master of Music in New York City.
The time she spent in NYC was fun. She played lots of jazz gigs including recitals for Bill Clinton, Kofi Annan and Vaclav Havel, developed a taste for salmon/dill bagels and heard loads of music while waiting tables at the Village Vanguard.
The terms of the scholarship included that she return to her native country to share the good news about the U.S. of A., so she eventually did this.
Back in Australia Monique wrote more music, played more gigs, received Queens Trust, Australia Council and Potter Cultural Trust grants, travelled a bunch and worked at getting back to NYC.
She now lives in NYC with a lovely piano and her daughter Soleil.
Through her independent label Elwood Records Monique has produced and played on 7 CD\'s, including..
\'Monique diMattina Live@55 - Drinkin Music for a Drinkin Bar\'blues based originals recorded live at the 55 Bar, Greenwich Village 2002
\'diMattina/Swann Live@JZ\'a swingin jazz piano set recorded live at the JZ Jazz Club for the Autumn Moon Festival, China 2006.
