| | Morningwood Diamonds & Studs CD (2009)
Strong
$11.59 A collection of songs that can't decide whether they need to be performed in an arena or a dark and sweaty club, DIAMONDS & STUDS can be a bit of an enigma. As the title implies, Morningwood's second album is all about two things, sparkly sparkly pop and driving rock. The record tries to blend the two worlds, as if it doesn't want to make up its mind about whether it wants to dive fully into power pop or give in completely to glammy dance-rock excess. In the end, it decides to take a stab at both, and does a workable job at it, often sounding a bit like Brassy or even a less intense, female Andrew W.K. "The Best of Me" (also the theme song for VH1's Daisy of Love), which jumps out of the gate with big guitars and vaguely tribal percussion, is an easy-to-like and easier-to-dance-to pop single if there ever were one. The real high points of the album come when the rock makes its way to the forefront. "Killer Life" and "Snobby Little Elf" are solid, arena-ready power pop singalongs, with both songs drawing you in with a bit of a buildup before exploding into instantly catchy choruses.

$11.39 Broken Together is a band that believes that worship is a gift, that God gives to us, and we, in turn give back to Him. Whether it's in a service in a Church on a Sunday morning, or sitting on the kitchen floor with your kids, worship is not an activity, it's a way of life; a way of life that Broken Together takes seriously. They believe that worship is a natural reflection of a grateful heart. With a Bluesy/Rock feel, thoughtful lyrics, and breathtaking vocals, Broken Together cuts through the noise and brings their listeners to the throne of the Almighty.Kristine Oliver, Lead VocalsMusic was always something I identified with, from the early age of one year old, my mom says I was a singing baby. I was captivated by melody and harmony and longed to sing with my church choir when I was five. God opened doors for me to do so and at seven I was sharing the gift He'd given me with my church body. Since then He's allowed me to record two independent projects and taken me to Nashville to work with some amazing musicians and producers. I feel blessed to be at home in Broken Together. It is my prayer that I lead people to the throne room of Jesus and that they see only Him and not me. What a privilege to share Jesus and His love with ...
