Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish; English Subtitles; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re Based on the Roger Corman cult classic, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS slams together twisted humor, a singing plant, a sadistic dentist, and sweet and oblivious love between two skid-row denizens into a rollicking musical well worth watching again and again. Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene portray perfectly clumsy Seymour and bubbly but easily dominated Audrey as they search for a way off skid row. A strange and unusual plant Seymour found after an eclipse might be their ticket out, but the plant Seymour calls Audrey II also desires a strange and unusual food: blood. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, Orin, a dentist who enjoys inflicting pain (played to the hilt by Steve Martin), is the first to go, but who will be next? And will Audrey II's hunger ever end?
Moranis and Greene sing with verve and passion, making each song a joy, and the cartoonish sets recall a stage musical even as Frank Oz wields the camera skillfully to make the most of the movie format. Fans of musicals shouldn't miss this movie, and nonfans will soon be converts.
In this dark but goofy and thoroughly fun musical, shy Seymour and bubbly Audrey don't recognize the romance blooming between them, but they do recognize the money-making potential of Seymour's weird plant, discovered after a total eclipse of the sun. Soon money pours in and Seymour becomes a minor celebrity, but behind the glamour and fame lies a secret Seymour can't reveal: this strange and unusual plant's favorite food is blood. As the plant grows taller and taller, its demands for food grow as well, and Seymour starts to suspect that the plant might have an agenda for world domination.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS was originally a 1960 movie directed by Roger Corman, and became an off-Broadway stage musical before Oz's film version.
The movie originally ended with Seymour and Audrey being eaten by the plant, but preview audience's negative reaction encouraged Oz to shoot a new ending.
Levi Stubbs, who did Audrey II's voice, is a member of the Four Tops.
Little Shop Of Horrors Reviews: "...A full-blown movie musical, and quite a winning one....It's not hard to understand this good-natured material's durability..."
-- Janet Maslin, New York Times "...[The] tech credits are excellent....[The] camerawork suggests a world like no other....On film the numbers are impressive set pieces, imaginatively staged with wonderful sets..."
-- Jagr., Variety "...Grandly loony, full-bodied and explosively funny. It's a movie that connects with its audience in a big way....The actors and lines are on target, the music has a swing and bite, the camera seems exuberant..."
-- Michael Wilmington, Los Angeles Times "[T]he movie is one of the better movie musicals produced in our largely post-movie-musical era."

Old but Great Movie I had watched this many times on VHS when it first came out. I decided to get it on DVD and revisit it. It is a great musical. A few scenes is a little mature for small children but overall it a movie the whole family can enjoy. Submitted by hrm366 (Sunrise, Florida) Was This Review Helpful? Terrific Having come to this movie late (sometime in 2000 for the first time) even though I've known of it since it was released in cinemas, I can only say that it is a marvelous, fun romp through the sci-fi musical genre. Excellent songs and excellent user of the original Roger Corman story line shot in the early 60's. The movie is an outstanding example of how to translate the stage to film (another is West Side Story, but that is another story...). Overall, well worth the money Submitted by a reviewer (New South Wales, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Very Good Movie I really enjoy this movie. It is a great price, at under $10. It is even widescreen, which usually you have to pay extra for. I would recommend buying this movie from this vendor. Submitted by Chris (Buffalo, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

$10.49 WWII. The "Blue Max", a coveted medal for achievement in flying, is ruthlessly sought by Peppard, a poor-boy German soldier who climbs out of the trenches and into the aristocratic air force. He is met with prejudice by the other contestants, wealthy snobs who look down upon his low economic stature. When he claims the title, he earns the respect of the General and the General's wife (Andress), who wants to repay him in ways that the General might not appreciate. Peppard, on the other hand, does. Fantastic aerial combat highlights the film, although the scenes between the two lovers don't hurt matters much.

$9.69 This relatively little-known film is widely hailed by fans of the macabre. Truly ahead of its time, NIGHTMARE ALLEY is set in the gritty, surrealistic world of traveling carnivals, where eccentric people of all possible varieties interact on a daily basis. In a departure from his usual roles as the Hollywood leading man, handsome Tyrone Power plays a morally questionable circus apprentice determined to climb the carnival ladder no matter what the price. Powers shows immense range in what was arguably his finest role ever as the sometimes unrecognizably scruffy circus man with a liking for the bottle. Director Edmund Goulding (DARK VICTORY) gives the carnival setting a dark, somber feel that contradicts the film's more upbeat ending. In spite of this ending tacked on by the studio system, NIGHTMARE ALLEY remains with the viewer even after it's over, haunting them with its bleak images and melancholy mood.
Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell star. A handsome carnival newcomer sets out to become a con artist clairvoyant.

$19.29 Japanese auteur Kinji Fukasaku examines the trauma of World War II in his home country in the docu-drama UNDER THE FLAG OF THE RISING SUN (GUNKI HATAMEKU MOTONI). Taking his cue from HIROSHIMA, MON AMOUR, Fukasaku combines a fictional drama with documentary segments illustrating and reinforcing the film's central themes. Mrs. Togashi (Sachiko Hidari) had a husband who was court martialed and executed in the final days of World War II, and as a result receives no pension from the government. Many years on, the army will still not tell her the circumstances of his death, so she embarks on an investigation of her own. Conducting interviews with a number of her husband's former comrades, she discovers a RASHOMON-like story of both heroism and villainy, bravery and cowardice. Suggesting that perhaps the truth is lost in the chaos of wartime, UNDER THE FLAG OF THE RISING SUN is a powerful examination of a terrible moment in Japanese history.
A war widow is determined to clear the name of her husband who was executed for desertion.

| | Robert Benchley And The Knights Of The Algonquin - Fourteen Complete Classic Films DVD (1929)
Little Shop Of Horrors movie DVD
$24.49 Known for the stutteringly brilliant lectures he gave at the Hotel Algonquin's now-legendary round table, Robert Benchley was winning over audiences from his very first on-screen appearance in TREASURER'S REPORT. He went on to become one of the 20th century's most-loved humorists, as well as a perceptive satirist and social commentator; this is most apparent in THE WITNESS, which spoofs the McCarthyism that was rampant in Hollywood at the time. Fourteen of Benchley's hilarious shorts are included here, as well as three others starring fellow Algonquin members Alexander Woolcott and Donald Ogden Stewart.
This special collection of 14 rare short film pays homage to American satirist Robert Benchley, Alexander Woollcott, Leo G. Carroll, and Donald Ogden Stewart, who shared his company at the Hotel Algonquin's legendary round table. Included are The Trouble with Husbands, The Forgotten Man, Crime Control, How To Take a Vacation, Nothing But Nerves, The Witness, KEeping In Shape, The Man's Angle, Waiting For Baby, The Treasurer's Report, The Sex Life Of the Polyp, Mr. W's Little Game, Humorous Flights, and Traffic Regulations.
