Looking Glass/Subway Serenade songs
$15.85 2008 digitally remastered reissue of this album from the Canadian band led by Bob Segarini. Originally released in 1968, this was Segarini's first album, predating his work with Roxy, The Wackers and his excellent solo career. Beautifully re-mastered from the original mono master tapes (the stereo mix was done by an assistant engineer alone and is a travesty according to the band members!). Amazing packaging including previously unpublished photos and in-depth liner notes with the participation of Segarini. Rev-Ola.
Family Tree (60's): Bob Segarini. While Bob Segarini is a hero to pop obsessives thanks to his bright, rollicking work with the Wackers and his superb solo album Gotta Have Pop, his recordings with his early group the ...

Looking Glass/Subway Serenade album
$18.25 "Bellydance revolutions" is dedicated to oriental dancers that changed the style of belly dancing in many aspects. Pioneers Badia Masabni, Shafiqa Al-Qibtiyya and Samia Gamal of Egypt, added drama and changed the costume style of Middle Eastern dance, now known as cabaret style. Badia Masabni, born in Syria-Lebanon, moved to egypt begin 20 th century to open the first Egyptian music hall. She later sold her "Opera Casino" to the beautiful oriental dancer Beba Ezzedine (picture right).Taheya Carioca was the first to adapt non-Middle Eastern rhythms in her show. Looking Glass/Subway Serenade music CDs
$12.65 THE PHIBES - The Phibes (Lakeside; USA) Featuring Charles Compo on flute, tenor sax, guitar & songs, Ted Daniel on trumpet & flugelhorn, Curtis Fowlkes on trombone, Tony Stewart & Jeff Miller on keyboards, Hal Winer & Abdul Zuhri on guitars, Dave Patrick on bass and Randy London, Mustafa Ahmed & John Arucci on drums & percussion. The leader of this group is saxist/flutist Charles Compo who I recall from his work with William Hooker, many moons ago. No doubt you know loft jazz trumpet hero Ted Daniel, who played a superb trio here last weekend (8/9/09) and Curtis Fowlkes longtime trombone hero for the Jazz Passengers. I can't say that I had heard of the Phibes before this disc was given to me by Ted Daniel, but then again I can't think of the last time I heard a jazz/rock/funk horn like this since the good old seventies. I was even more surprised to find that I can still dig this great, groovy, greasy and slamming stuff. This band is super-tight, spirited with strong but short solos from the flute, trombone and electric guitar. The first tune, "Hard On" really ripped my head right off and the second ...
