A must for any true metal fan
This is truly a lost treasure in the Metal/Thrash catagory. I think its sad that this album has been overlooked, while Kill 'em all and Show no Mercy(all made the same year)are often cited as the most influential. Although this album shows little if any direction the band was headed in, it definitly shows this band a force to be reckoned with. My favorites are Death Rider, Death From Above, Accross the River, aw screw it I like it all, anyway if you're a true metalhead buy this album you won't be disappointed.

Anthrax When They Were Good!
Being their 1st Release, Anthrax really hit it off!!! Thier sense of direction was somewhat clear...during this period of time, the band was not as Gooky & Wacky as later releases and not yet complete Sell-Outs. 'Fistful of Metal' was a true Thrash Album, though, like Metallica's 'Kill 'em All' and Slayer's 'Show No Mercy', this album is slow...well, 'Show No Mercy' and 'Fistful of Metal' are Faster than 'Kill 'em All' to be exact. Neil Turbin does Vocals on this albums as the Original singer and Dan Lilker (before Nuclear Assault) stands in as the original Bass Player. Overall, the feel of the album is great, it's pretty fast, the vocals are great and it has some of the catchiest riffs. No humor is found on this album, which is great (unlike the end of 'Spreading the Disease')and the band keeps their fast paste music serious. There are only 2 draw backs to this album that i can think of... 1) The Fact that there's a cover track...sadly, an Alice Cooper song. (though this version is a lil' better than the original...in the sense that it's slightly faster). 2)That it's not as fast as their later releases...but hey, what do ya expect? Thrash was just starting!! Anyhooch, this is one of the few Anthrax titles i can recommend. Neil Turbin is excellent on vocals. Though, as we all know he was replaced by Joey Belladonna upon the bands 2nd release. 'Armed and Dangerous' is a great Mini-Album (Mini EP)Showcasing Joey as new Vocalist, and Frank Bello as new Bassist. Still in the serious mood and even better- Faster than 'Fistful of Metal'. 'Spreading the Disease' is super great! But, they started being a goofy band in their recordings. 'Among the Living' is just perfect in a sense. Most of the songs can get boring.
