Who Linger album
$12.59 The last time White Lion issued a new studio album, the musical world was a very different place. Hair metal was still en vogue, but its death knell was rapidly approaching (with the arrival of Nirvana). The group collapsed soon after the lukewarm reception bestowed upon the release of 1991's Mane Attraction, and remained in hibernation until the late '90s, until singer Mike Tramp began touring under a few different White Lion-related names (such as "Remembering White Lion" and "Tramp's White Lion") and issuing live albums. But 2008's Return of the Pride is the first post-1991 release to be credited solely to White Lion. Despite Tramp being the only member present from the group's late-'80s glory days, the group's heavy yet melodic sound remains very much intact. Instead of attempting to give White Lion an updated stylistic makeover, much of Return of the Pride sounds as if it could have been released in 1989 and not be out of place at all. New guitarist Jamie Law manages to fill Vito Bratta's shoes pretty well, which is no small task (as Bratta was considered one of the more talented "shredders" of the hair metal era). Close your eyes and be prepared to be taken back to the carefree days of hair spray, ...

Who Linger music CDs
$38.19 This Japanese release of the power metalist's 2003 set features the bonus track "Ne Pleure Pas," as well as "Regalis Apertura," "Wings Of Despair," "Light I Shine On You," "Mirror Mirror," and eight more.
Opening with the track "Regalis Aperture," an instrumental piece that sounds like it could have been lifted from the Chariots of Fire soundtrack, Kamelot's Karma promises to deliver ambitiously orchestral prog-metal from the very start. A scan of the song titles ("Wings of Despair," "The Light I Shine on You," "Temples of Gold") further suggests Kamelot's wholehearted embrace of the dramatic ...

| | Moraine Manifest Density CD (2009)
Who Linger album
$14.89 The term "delayed gratification" doesn't mean that there is a shortage, lack, or absence of gratification -- only that gratification is coming later rather than sooner. In fact, delayed gratification can bring with it an abundance of gratification when it finally arrives. That is often the case in avant-garde jazz; albums that aren't easy to absorb offer considerable rewards after the listener is able to absorb the music and comprehend what is going on. Moraine's Manifest Destiny is a prime example. This 2008 recording, which is best described as electric avant-garde jazz-rock with world music influences at times, does not go out of its way to be accessible. Moraine -- a quintet consisting of leader/founder Dennis Rea on electric guitar, Alicia Allen on violin, Ruth Davidson on cello, Kevin ...
