Thierry Cham et la musique, c’est une longue histoire. Une histoire qui débute dès le plus jeune âge pour cet Antillais au sourire ravageur qui a grandi entre la Guadeloupe et Paris. « J’ai vite pris conscience que le chant faisait partie de moi », se souvient-il, « et cette passion m’a incité à tenter une carrière ». Les premières amours musicales de Thierry sont issues de la variété française (« on commence par ce qu’écoutent les parents , les frères et soeurs»), mais très vite les idoles viennent d’Amérique. Thierry fait Michael Jackson devant son miroir, puis découvre le zouk grâce à Kassav’. La voix de lover de Patrick St-Eloi l’inspire, et il se lance dans le grand bain de la chanson. Une participation à un concours de chant (Le Rêve Antillais organisé par kassav’) lui donne l’occasion de croiser différents artistes et producteurs, puis vient la rencontre avec Cesar Durcin et Frédéric Caracas tous deux à cette époque musiciens du groupe Kassav’. On est au début des années 90, et son premier projet discographique sera « Coup double », une compile antillaise « avec un succès plus que relatif ! », se souvient Thierry le sourire aux lèvres. « Mais j’étais déjà content d’être en studio, le pied à l’étrier. Je voulais un solo, alors le producteur décide de me faire enregistrer un album mais c’est devenu « Coup double présente Thierry Cham » alors que j’étais le seul chanteur. Je ne considérais pas ce projet comme un solo» Thierry en profite pour se rôder et chante partout où il peut : clubs, fêtes de quartier, festivals. G-P found a love for rap when he was about 7 or 8 years old. His brother, Dana Paul now deceased, (16 or 17 years old at the time) shared a bedroom. His brother worked a summer job and while he was away G-P would stay at home with his mom. Well one day G-P was in their bedroom. His brother had a boom box and told him never to touch it. Well G-P touched it anyway and pushed the play button. NWA's song "Express Yourself" started blasting out of the speakers........and from that day forward G-P has been hooked on rap/hip-hop/r&b ever since. He started writing basic rhymes from that day forward. He completed the "On The Level" album in 2004 when he got out of the military but he just never could find a way to get his music heard....but he's got people now, twitter, myspace, cdbaby.com and an album full of hits. He did a lot of rapping on the album, singing and the music production. Jon Denney of the Denney Music Group (now in Nashville, TN) recorded, engineered, mixed, mastered and co-produced some of the music on the album at Neon Cactus Studios in Akron, Ohio.
