Longtime Aerosmith fans are likely to quibble about the set list here. How to pare down one of rock's all-time greatest and longest-running rock bands to 18 songs? Even so, 2006's DEVIL'S GOT A NEW DISGUISE: THE VERY BEST OF AEROSMITH does an admirable job, offering a single-disc crash course in the group's biggest and best-known tunes.
Ranging from the their 1970s heyday throughout their astonishing late '80s comeback and beyond, DEVIL'S plays like a feel-good hard-rock radio revival. Old-schoolers will be happy to find the staples--"Dream On," "Walk This Way," and "Sweet Emotion"--while second-generation Aerosmith fans will find blockbuster MTV fare like "Cryin'" and "Crazy." The band's patented boogie shuffle is accounted for on "Back in the Saddle" and "Rag Doll," among others. Two new tracks, one of which gives the album its title, are also included.
Originally decried by critics as an American rip-off of the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith blew these criticisms away by going on to become the biggest and best hard rock band of the '70s. Fronted by funky and fast-talking Steven Tyler, Aerosmith was anchored by the rock-solid rhythm tandem of Tom Hamilton ...

Peace & Love album
$21.69 Robin Scott's 1969 album Woman from the Warm Grass was very much in the mold of many British folk-ground artists of the time who were gingerly making the transition to a folk-rock sound. In fact, in material and presentation, Scott was fairly similar in feel to a few other artists that producer Sandy Roberton worked with, including Al Jones, Keith Christmas, and Shelagh McDonald. Scott's vocals and songs were earnest and verbose, with the reflective fragile moodiness (and yearning, sometimes florid romanticism) found in ...

| | Zevolution: Ze Records Re-Edited Vinyl LP (2009)
Peace & Love songs
$19.59 No point in attempting to reword (or is that remix?) the words of Fat Camp's Bill Brewster, dance music scholar and ZEvolution's liner notes author: "Unlike a remix, which uses all the individual tracks from the original multi-track to create a new song, the re-edit uses only the finished master recording to re-organize the song into a more dynamic form." A project spearheaded by veteran U.K. DJ Greg Wilson, whose own work with tapes predated a wave of re-edits that (with the help of novice-friendly technology) permeated dance music during the 2000s' first decade, this disc takes a knife -- real or virtual -- to ZE, one of the premier left-field imprints of the late '70s and early '80s, best introduced on the expanded two-disc reissue of their Mutant Disco compilation. (Get that, at the very least, before this.) These re-edits don't necessarily put a more dynamic spin on the originals. Sometimes, they are less about increased dynamics and more about alternative functionality, as exemplified by Rub 'n' Tug, who merely slow Material's muscular, charging "Bustin' Out" (featuring the great Nona Hendryx) to a prowl. Other edits are relatively drastic. Special credit goes to Luke Howard ...
