| | Boyz II Men Love CD Boyz II Men Discography of CDs
The title of Boyz II Men's third consecutive covers album is only partially indicative. The love songs covered on this disc span several decades and styles, unlike Throwback (`70s and early-`80s funk and soul) and Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA (self-explanatory), both of which were more focused thematically. What ties these songs together is that they are love songs, and nothing else. That early-`60s R&B (Sam Cooke's "Cupid"), late-`90s country (Lonestar's "Amazed"), and early-`80s rock (Journey's "Open Arms," a choice likely influenced by producer Randy Jackson) are all part of the mix only hints at the randomness of the selections. Despite the range of the sources, Boyz II Men tie it all together. ~ Andy Kellman

Despite the range of the sources, Boyz II Men tie it all together, nearly to a fault. The group makes the occasional modification to the originals, like the ticking-clock vocal effect on Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time"; otherwise, if you know the originals, and you know Boyz II Men, you can play these versions in your head without having heard them. ~ Andy Kellman

Love album
$13.89 Two covers albums in a row may come as a disappointment to fans waiting for a set of new material, but the group's signature sound is as swooningly spot-on as ever. And even while Motown purists may roll their eyes, there's something sweet about Boyz II Men's tribute to their soul-pop forebears, both in the range of material they choose ("Money (That's What I Want);" the Commodores' "Easy") and in their stunning singing.
Like 2004's THROWBACK, MOTOWN: A JOURNEY THROUGH HITSVILLE USA finds Boyz II Men working their way ably through a set of cover tunes. This time around the group takes on the Motown canon, lending their superb harmonies to renditions of "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)," and "The Tracks of My Tears."
| | Gioia Create It Together CD (2008)
Love CD music
$16.45 Take a mesh of contemporary poprock, throw in a pinch of beat driven electronica and the audio tapestry that is the music of singer/songwriter, Gioia (joy-a), will begin to take shape. Drawing vocal influences from the likes of Seal and Elton John, and the artistic integrity and creativity of Bono, Gioia brings a fresh approach to asserting his important message on life, love, and worldly social injustice. The engaging productions and free flowing vocal patterns in Gioia’s latest studio effort, “Create it Together,” invite the album into a genre all its own. His sharp global perspective brought on by his own life experiences including a horrific car accident which inspired the song, "Don't You Say Goodbye", bring across a mature yet fresh sound that churns out subtleties and nuances as the record begins to age in the listeners’ ear.

| | Pink Funhouse CD (2008) Explicit
Love CD music
$10.35 Pink's insistently hooky, attitude-filled pop-rock has kept the singer a fixture on the radio and on singles charts since the early 2000s. The artist's fifth effort, FUNHOUSE, doesn't tamper with the formula: Pink's powerhouse vocals and in-your-face approach, backed by stadium-sized production, are in full effect on all 12 tracks. Even though the album deals primarily with aftermath of her divorce and includes serious moments of self-confrontation like "Sober," fans needn't worry that Pink has lost any of her chutzpah.
If anything, there's an increased sense of confidence and newfound liberation on tracks like the chest-thumping "So What" and the mischievous, bouncing "Bad Influence." In softer moments, like the ballad "I Don't Believe You" and the soulful "One Wrong Foot," Pink channels her personal experience into expressions that carry no less strength or muscle. But FUNHOUSE is a pop album first and foremost, and its catchy choruses, rollicking beats, and memorable vocal performances won't disappoint.
