| | Z-Ro Cocaine CD Z-Ro Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Despite his status as one of hip-hop's most prolific artists, Z-Ro never quite spreads himself too thin. The provocatively titled COCAINE is his second release from 2009, and features his trademark self-aware, yet rapier-sharp lyrics over some of the hotter beats out of the fertile Houston scene. The Intro skilfully sets out the landscape as the dark-vocaled MC reflects upon his choice of a life of street dealing without a shred of remorse, while stressing his decision was not exactly the wise one. From there, Z-Ro, an expert storyteller, wanders from tale to tale, each one delivered with a novelist's touch, on a record which somehow transcends cookie-cutter. | | Cg Two Sides To Every Story CD (2006)
Cocaine
$8.22 Coming strong off of his 2005 solo release, LONG STORY SHORT, Bay area MC C.G. teams up with R&B singer J. Gui to put together a more stylistically balanced effort. Together, the two artists combine for a product reminiscent of Bad Boy Records' late-1990s heyday. C.G.'s flow is simple and straight up--a perfect complement to the record's smoothed out, "sloppy-clap" beats. The duo gets help from guests Clyde Carson, Playa Rae, Smigg Dirtee, and Gemini.

| | Z-Ro Crack CD (2008)
Cocaine
$15.05 Recording information: King Of The Ghetto Studio; M.A.D. Studios, Houston, TX. Photographer: Mike Frost . A member of the Houston-based Screwed Up Click (affiliated with the much-heralded DJ Screw), Z-Ro has released a prodigious stream of recordings since his debut, LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME, appeared in 1998. CRACK (2008) adds to the rapper's underground reputation by demonstrating once more his verbal dexterity and command of the mic. Guest appearances by Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Mike D, and others make CRACK festive, but it's the stripped down, hard-hitting production and Z-Ro's fierce skills that make this a solid release.
