OSI - Blood Album Track Listing

tap your veins, give blood SUPERB 3rd album from OSI and noticeably bent towards the "trippy", dark & morose end of the emotional spectrum. OSI continues its' distinctive sound yet has once again reinvented itself in the process. I held HIGH expectations for this prior to its' release and those lofty hopes have been far exceeded. I have "spun" this several times in the few days that I have owned it and can now assert that OSI's latest is one of my all time favorite albums. This band puts the sub-atomic freeze in "cool" and I would recommend that you step outside of yourself, tap your veins, and GIVE BLOOD. Heartfelt, dripping in moody textures, and occasionally groove laden in a stylish metal sort of way, Blood is an exceptionally strong record by an all too talented band. The smooth, exceptionally laid back vocal approach is a perfect accent to a brilliantly conceived musical landscape. Strategic influence hath been asserted and in an odd sort of way, this is reminiscent of the X-files. By toops (Quantum Leaps, WA) This review is for a different format.
Album of the year(2009) I can't describe it with words. If you like prog rock with heavy guitar riffs and melodic electro sounds, this one is for you. Don't think, just listen. By moufis (Greece) This review is for a different format.
A different opinion As a huge fan of Kevin Moore and the first OSI album it pains me to say that the song writing on blood is disappointing. The sound and production is amazing but the songs are well.... quite boring ... as are the vocal tracks. If you dont own any OSI buy the self-titled album without hesitation ... it is truly an incredible album By mike (calgary) This review is for a different format.
An outstanding achievement OSI Style! Truly a perfect example of what has made OSI so special. I can't say enough positive remarks about the previous two albums and Blood is friggin' stellar. Kevin's lyrics have always created the perfect mood to every track, even with an edgy metallic groove behind him (Be the Hero, or Bigger Wave from Free). This is something that sets OSI apart, not to mention the multiple layers of interwoven textures and effects playing behind the band along with a sense of humor thrown in here and there. I own every Chromakey release as well, so it's clear that it's Kevin's signature style which I completely dig. This new album is a must have if you've tried any other OSI or Chomakey release. Congrats Kev and Jim...This one id awesome! By ryanraf (Naples, FL) This review is for a different format.
| Blood is on par with their debut O.S.I. Gavin Harrison’s creativity adds a lot of flavor to Blood with his silky smooth chops and solid drum tones. His work on "Microburst Alert" is amazingly fresh! This album easily surpasses "Free" and track for track may be better than their debut release. All the songs are well constructed with plenty of depth to each track to keep you interested for several plays. Guest vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt, from Opeth, lays down the vox track on "Stockholm" which is surely one of the highlights of this album. Which brings to mind the only reason this is not a 5 star release as I believe OSI could benefit from a full-time vocalist (like Åkerfeldt who is the best in the business) because Moore's voice doesn't have enough presence or dynamics to carry an entire album.
