A must see for young Puerto Ricans struggling with their self identity, or anyone interested in U.S. foreign policy and economic imperialism in Latin America. An insightful and often painful look at the colonial relationship between the United States and Puerto Rico: cultural and economic colonialism at its worst. Rosie Perez captures the complex relationship from a first person family narrative coupled with superb historical documentation that illuminates U.S. foreign policy towards Puerto Rico, and the mainland Puerto Rican community's struggle for socio-economic equality and cultural self identity.
