Breakout + 2 album
$5.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers ...

Breakout + 2 CD music
$10.39 Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 masterpiece REIGN ...

It's always a sign that a group is hot if they release a holiday album mere months after their debut. That's the case with *NSYNC. Their debut was released in America in late March, and in early December, Home for Christmas hit the shelves. Much of the album is devoted ...
| | Elvis Presley ELV1S: 30 # 1 Hits CD (2002) Remastered
Breakout + 2 songs
$10.39 Includes liner notes Peter Guralnick and Ernst Mikael Jorgensen.
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, 30 #1 HITS presents a career-spanning serving of the King's chart-toppers.
Dating back to "Heartbreak Hotel" (which was inspired by a suicide note printed in the Miami Herald), most of these cuts have become indelibly etched into the fabric of pop culture and each has a unique story behind it. "Love Me Tender" has its origins in the Civil War ballad "Aura Lee," "It's Now Or Never" found Elvis Americanizing the Neapolitan ballad "O Sole Mio," and "Wooden Heart" likewise was converted from a German children's song.
This Memphis native's choice of artists to cover was equally intriguing and includes Hollywood legend Al Jolson ("Are You Lonesome Tonight?"), New Orleans soul shouter Smiley Lewis ("One Night"), blues great Big Mama Thornton ("Hound Dog"), and country titan Hank Snow ("[Now And Then There's] A Fool Such As I"). Further testimony of Presley's ...

Digitally remastered by George Horn (Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Digitally remastered by George Horn (1995, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Guided, perhaps, by musical snobbery or roots-rock phobia, some people inexplicably don't like Creedence Clearwater Revival. As the kings of earnest country-inflected rock in an age when radical stances were de rigueur, CCR sported straight-ahead tunes, and may have seemed a bit unhip. But their music stands the test of time with a vengeance. For the doubtful listener, this outstanding, 20-track hits collection has evidence of their greatness in staggering abundance.
Though they produced several excellent albums, Creedence was predominantly a singles band, and CHRONICLE compiles many of their biggest hits. From the slowly building saunter of "Suzie ...
| | Ralston Bowles Carwreck Conversations CD (2004)
Breakout + 2 music CDs
$11.65 Carwreck Conversations, Ralston Bowles' debut, is a mature, thoughtful portrait of age, youth, and the place "where dreams and truth collide." Along the way he aims more questions inward than at the outside world, without ever falling prey to easy rationalizations or self-pity. In the record's stark opener, the late Mark Heard's "What Kind of Friend," backed simply by a stark drumbeat, he asks, "What kind of friend am I?" It may not seem like much on the surface, but Ralston (who drops his surname) proceeds to show why this may be the toughest question of all. In his quest for "grace" (the title of one of the album's best songs), there are obstacles: angry words, wants, needs, regrets, and plenty of gray areas, all of which are handled with humility, dignity, and a somewhat spiritual bent (think T-Bone Burnett). There's also a subtlety and insight at work here that's missing in the material of most singer/songwriters these days. Bowles steers ...
