| | Button-Down Mind Of Bob Newhart CD Bob Newhart Discography of CDs
Recorded live at The Tidelands Club, Houston, Texas. Includes liner notes by Dan Sorkin.
Long before he was a successful TV sitcom star, Bob Newhart was perpetrating his brand of refined, low-key humor on recordings and on stages across America. In sharp contrast to the brash, in-your-face humor of the borscht belt veterans, Newhart had a style that was unassuming and genteel. Where other comedians of the early '60s might seem like used car salesmen, Newhart came across more like someone's tax accountant or local grocer. His meek, guy-next-door demeanor made his bouts with bizarre circumstances all the more humorous. When he places himself in the middle of historical events like Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, his manner-of-fact demeanor hilariously deflates the situation. Newhart's patented style--presenting one end of a conversation and leaving us to imagine the unheard other side through his comments--allows his deadpan humor to achieve maximum impact.

$15.65 Unique among even the most cutting-edge standup comics of the '60s, Bob Newhart entertained his audiences not with snappy patter and jokes, but with long monologues in which his voice represented one side of a conversation, the other side left to the listener's imagination. This idiosyncratic format proved endlessly adaptable, as Newhart spun seemingly endless scenarios from it. Before he became a beloved ...

"Saturday Night Live" veteran Adam Sandler follows up his Grammy-nominated comedy album THEY'RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU! with more wacky humor in thirteen sketches and seven songs. Sandler once again proves himself to be a multi-talented comedian and adroit singer-songwriter.

Button-Down Mind Of Bob Newhart CD music
$4.79 When other 1970s R&B veterans were heavily incorporating elements of hip-hop and new jack swing in the hope of remaining competitive, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly flat out refused to change. Their roots were Philly soul and Marvin Gaye, and they weren't about to pretend otherwise. The stick-to-your-guns approach had made Silky Soul both a commercial and artistic triumph, and it's also a major asset on Back to Basics. Though not quite as strong as ...
